Title: Photography
Post by: DarkMilly on September 12, 2009, 11:29:36 pm
So, I'm very into old school photography (as in film, not digital), and so I thought that I may as well publish a photo or two that I've taken, developed and printed. I'll post one, and if you guys think I'm worthy, I'll post more after that :P (also do it that way so there aren't massive amounts of large photos in one clump.
So here is the first one, it was my first time in the studio, and I wanted to do a scary/moody type photo, I had also just watched 'The Crow'. This is the result...

That's damn awesome! Very badass. You captured the original feeling well.

Now I wanna go see The Crow again...*Howls into the moonlight through a clock tower*

Because of the good reception, here is another from the same shoot, I have one more I might post from the same one, then I'll change shoot's so we don't all get bored of 'The Crow'.

Fun fact, the makeup took 1 hour to do, and the shoot took about 2.

I always wonder if they forget they are wearing it and poke themselves in the eye.

It's more hardcore that way. *Nod nod*

He is actually my boyfriend :P Good model too. :)
I used to wear spikey wrist bands all the time, I was quit the goth kid :P. Not that you can tell now.

Title: Re: Photography
Post by: Sammich! on September 14, 2009, 04:13:55 am
AaaAAAhh, I see. He should go around like that all the time. XD

Ahh yes, the goth days. I remember those...People either loved me or were terrified of me. XD And I liked it that way.

Title: Re: Photography
Post by: DarkMilly on September 14, 2009, 06:03:26 am
lol I wish he went around like that. I love spikey jewelery and long black leather coats on guys (and girls :P lol).

Oh, and I totally had a spikey band like that, and i wouldn't hurt myself so much as I would hurt my friends accidentally when I hugged them :P.

So here is the last I'll post from that shoot, it was a funny random one at the end of the shoot, guess who I made him to look like :P

XD That's awesome.

guess who I made him to look like :P

Hmmmmm...I dunno. I've seen a lot of goth rockers lick their guitars. XD Gene Simmons maybe?

Title: Re: Photography
Post by: DarkMilly on September 15, 2009, 02:16:32 am
Yes, sad about the braces, he has them off now thankfully. Due to the fact it's film photography there was no editing out. I know I could have once I scanned it, but I thought there was no need :P
and Sammich, you would be right.

Now the next shoot I'll post I'm sure you guys will love. :P This was in colour film, so I went nuts with my love for fashion, colour, photography, and my awesome best mate :P. Again I'll post one at a time. Here is the first one, enjoy :).

By the way, I always do the makeup, and choose the outfits for my models. Often they are wearing stuff that is mine, and in this only the short shorts, the red top, and the vest are actually hers. It's good that I went through all these phases of fashion, as now I have a pretty extensive wardrobe for my photography :P.

I'll take your thoughts about how hot she is as a sign of good photography, and choice of clothes, by me. :P
Sorry guys, she is taken. :P
SO the next in the shoot is...

I would like to point out that we were actually in a huge flood water drain when we were taking these shoots, the cool graffiti was meant to accentuate the punk style she has.

p.s. My scanner is horrible, and has made all the bumps on the rough paper show up, so it doesn't look as good as when you see the actual print, but you get the idea!

Title: Re: Photography
Post by: Grammer on September 15, 2009, 08:44:10 am
No worries. Besides, I think most people here live half a world away, so we can't get too creepy.  I'd be more worried if we lived in the same city >.<

And yes, both clothes and photography is awesome and well done.

(I'm honestly trying to avoid creepy here, I'm just not sure how well I'm managing. So I'll just apologize right away and hope it passes.)

Title: Re: Photography
Post by: DarkMilly on September 15, 2009, 09:00:26 am
Don't worry, I have had much more creepy responses to these photos by people who went to the same school with me, and thankyou. :)

Title: Re: Photography
Post by: Grammer on September 15, 2009, 09:24:24 am
And due to the distance thingy, no one here can be creepy stalker people, either ;D
Because that would be creepy, you know. Yes yes.

Title: Re: Photography

I'm sure none of you woul dbe creepy stalker people.. Or at least too creepy.. Maybe :P

Damn awesome shots! Of course they make me cry, but...that's the beauty of them. XD

I love the environment. Very urban and grungy. I'm expecting her to go find a car to dance on while throwing molotovs.

Title: Re: Photography

Thanks everyone :) Ready for the next in the shoot? I'll stop posting from this shoot soon, as I don't want you guys getting bored. :P
But for now, enjoy...

Title: Re: Photography
Post by: Sammich! on September 16, 2009, 03:01:03 am
Don't worry at all, I'm sure no one's getting bored. These are ridiculously awesome.

This one's probably my favourite of them! It captures the urban-grungy feel very well, and the shopping cart is just epic. The placement and balance is good too, with a nice receding backdrop.

How often do you do these? Do you has a devART?

Title: Re: Photography
Post by: DarkMilly on September 16, 2009, 03:10:13 am
Yeah I have a deviantart, I haven't been able to do photography in ages since I have no good camera or access to a darkroom. For all these photos so far I used my school camera and darkroom. When I'm rich enough to buy a good digital SLR I'll start again.
Oh, and my boyfriend was the one who ran off into the distance to bring that 'shopping cart' (or as we in Australia call it 'trolly'), I was very thankful :).

Title: Re: Photography
Post by: Sammich! on September 16, 2009, 03:17:03 am
Aahh, I see. Yeah, digital cameras are way expensive. I've wanted to do photography for a while, but I can never get my hands on a good HD digicam.

What's your devART? I must add ye. :D

Also, conveniently located cart/trolly ftw. Did you guys ride around in it after? I totally would have ridden in it after and accidentally ran into old people.

Title: Re: Photography

DarkMilly is my Deviantart name as well (surprise surprise). In fact, search DarkMilly on any site and whoever you find is probably me :P.

Yah. Ayrshire is a dairy area and as any vet will tell you "cows go wrong in Ayrshire." Popular opinion extends this to people. Makes me think I  should do arty pictures. Then I remember my digital camera's back at the flat.

Oh No! She ate it! -.-'

That's the end of the Snow White series, but not the nursery rhymes!

Is it wrong for me to think that apple looks delicious?

Naa lol, the model actually ate it after this shot because she was hungry, and it was a really yummy apple. :P

Awesome shot. :D Totally not thinking about feeling her up while she's unconscious.

XD I also love the Nunja.

The next couple are just random shots for different nursery rhymes I did (wasn't sure which one I wanted to do for my project at first)

Here is Little Red Riding Hood.

Awesome! It has a darker tone to it (at least from my view), which I like.

You totally not sick bastard.

XD I wouldn't actually do it. I'm just being vile as usual.

I hope to one day get Nunja printed on a top :P Once I fix up all the mistakes. :P

Thanks Sammich :) I do believe the photo has a slight blue tone to it, which the others don't.

OK, so here comes the last nursery rhymes one. This photo is inspired from Hanzel and Gretal. Enjoy!

P.S. Getting down to the height to take this photo was incredibly hard, and I was very dirty after!

I do like your photography though.  Very well done, especially your spatial referencing.  It is very feng shui and makes me feel at peace.

Thanks for the compliments guys! *Ignores the talk about being being hard and dirty as cannot think of a witty reply :P*

OK, so I thought i would through in another Crow picture, I need more moody back in this thread! lol :P

Title: Re: Photography

Love the look, but if you do this shoot again, I think he needs a long sleeved tight black shirt.  But all in all he looks fantastically like the Crow.

Title: Re: Photography
Post by: DarkMilly on October 07, 2009, 12:28:42 am
Well in some shots he had the whole long leather jacket on, but with the dark lighting, i found the white of his skin, and on the guitar contrasted well with the black makeup, hair, clothes, and general picture.. Yeah I make sense. :P
Anyways, thanks for the input, if I do the shoot again I will definitely give it a go!

Title: Re: Photography
Post by: Boomstick on October 07, 2009, 12:34:00 am
Also, possibly get a little Ben Nye stage blood, and have a gory shot.  It's always a plus!  And of course get some fake guns, and rip up the shirt a little bit to give it the battle worn look :)

But were those al of the Storybook shots you have?  I'd really like to see more.  Were they your idea, or did you just shoot them?

Title: Re: Photography
Post by: DarkMilly on October 07, 2009, 12:40:47 am
Well, I was sort of going for the whole.. moody style pictures, how the Crow was at the beginning of the movie, before he got all torn up and bloody :P But it would be really cool to do another shoot of that 'stage' in the movie. Hopefully I'll get to do it eventually.
Sadly that is all the shots that I actually developed and printed out large (remember that it was all done with film photography). I also came up with the idea myself. We had to do an assignment, and the subject was food photography... but I found that heaps boring, so I sorta changed it a bit by doing shots of food related parts out of nursery rhymes. :P I actually scored the top mark out of the school for the shoot (the same with my punk photos, and the crow photos did really well too :P).

Thanks Sammich :) I'm glad you all aren't bored of my photography yet! :P

Time for some love in here! Here is one that I took that should equal all the mushyness needed in this thread. :)
Enjoy :)

@Boomstick-Lol, I have no idea, I should look it up. The bracelet is one that I wore to my formal (or prom as most of you probably know it as... :P), it is very pretty at night! :D
@Sammich- Funnily enough, this photo came from a set of photos that went alongside a poem I wrote, that had that very sort of.. worldly feel to it!

Time for some infrared photos... Inspired by Sammich's current DP, enjoy!

HOW DID I MISS THE PUNK SHOOT?!??  Oh mah gawd she was beautiful!  I loved the urban graffiti setting, and yes, the trolly was super good.  I also really like "don't Cap HBK" on the last pic lol.  When you visit the US you need to bring her :P

If you do, make sure you go to the right places. Cause half of the country are dicks, and the other half are relatively cool.

Title: Re: Photography

So in other words, avoid California, and come straight to wherever I am.  I'll be your US Tour guide.

Title: Re: Photography

D: I am not a dick. Well, in the figurative sense. As for the literal sense, I might be.....

...California's a cool state, as long as you ignore the upper-class Conservative Christian flag-wavers. And Valley Girls. And Bros. Like, chyah dude. Broooo, man! Dude, bro, man bro! Mmmaaannn. I also live near the original spawn of Hippies (Berkeley).

So, if you don't like the smell of marijuana, don't come to California. XD

Title: Re: Photography
Post by: DarkMilly on October 29, 2009, 06:34:32 am
Well I tend to stay away from drugs, so I wouldn't really know the smell (shocking isn't it? lol).

I could totally use some THZ guides! Probably be a couple of years before I can go though, being a uni student and all.. unable to save up money.

Yay for white grass! Also, yes the tree trunk was basically black, we had really bad fires come through the area a few years ago, things are just starting to really grow back.

Naa, I'm not that pretty, she is just an awesome photographer :P. The drummer from the band I was in, is also in one of the photo's I posted previously here. >.< Yeah, I have had relatively the same group of friends for like 7 years now :P.

Anyways, here is another one, I don't like it as much, but it's cool in a weird way, I look sort of intentionally stunned or something lol.
