Even better question, any good websites to watch those on?

Heretic.

I don't watch on the web.

I guess I'm a Heretic then. I can't afford anything now a days.  :(

Title: Re: Animes
Post by: Grammer on August 17, 2009, 04:23:52 pm
I've only ever bought Ghost in the Shell. But there are better ways to watch anime, like torrents. Most new or obscure anime isn't even licensed for distribution outside Japan.

Title: Re: Animes
Post by: Sion_Revan on August 17, 2009, 06:28:46 pm
- Neon Genesis Evangelion
- Code Geass
- Death Note (personally I don't think it's the "teh awesomest anime evar!1!111" that people keep saying, but it's not bad... at least, up until around episode twenty five.)
- Cowboy Bebop
- Samurai Champloo
- Hellsing
- Hellsing: Ultimate
- Gundam Wing
- Afro Samurai
- Ghost in the Shell (the first movie)
- Ninja Scroll
- Any of Hayao Miyazaki's films (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, etc.)

Avoid Inuyasha like the plague. Naruto is all right to a point. Bleach I haven't seen too much of, but it doesn't seem that bad.

Title: Re: Animes
Post by: Jetraymongoose on August 17, 2009, 08:34:37 pm
I remember seeing Inuyasha when it first came on in Canada. It sucks. Like 500 episodes and still nothing.

I love "Naruto", despite the filler, the plot holes, the ridiculous backstories...wait, what's my point? ;)

Title: Re: Animes
Post by: Sammich! on August 19, 2009, 03:06:07 am
Veoh.com seems to be a good anime-hosting site. I've watched a lot of anime there. High-quality too, I think.

Three random ones off the top of my head, cause I'm too lazy to think of any others: Ergo Proxy, Texhnolyze, and D. Gray Man.

Title: Re: Animes
Post by: suntzu on August 19, 2009, 04:38:57 am
Check out "Aim For the Top!" 1 & 2, more popularly known as "Gunbuster" 1 & 2. Humanity's last hope to defeat the Space Monsters lies with giant fighting robots (of course)! The first series is pretty cool, and has rather old-school animation. The sequel picks up in the same universe...12,000 years later. ;D Great stuff!

Title: Re: Animes
Post by: Grammer on August 19, 2009, 05:43:06 am
It's "Gunbuster" and "Deathbuster" :P And it's not old school animation, it's just plain old. With copious amounts of fan-service :D

Rozen Maiden: Slapstick, drama, action. With dolls. Freaking epic gothic lolita dolls!

I watched the hell outta Bleach. Then it got boring. I'm also a big fan of Hare+Guu, but I don't know anybody who has even heard of it.

You can watch some anime here (http://www.animeshippuuden.com/), but I won't guarantee you'll get everything.

"Gunslinger Girls" and "Gundam  00" are into their second seasons, which you can probably watch online. Other favorites...

Black Lagoon
Super Gals
Death Note
Lucky Star

If you're into sexy women with mech type stuff, try Bubblegum Crisis or Dirty Pair Flash

If you want more pantyshots...

Rosaro+Vampire take place in a monster high school. It's just plain nuts.

Title: Re: Animes

Kamen no Maid guy is great if you want crazy, So are Lucky Star and Dai Mahou Touge.

Also, check out Umineko. If you like Higurashi (a truly crazy horror anime) you'll like Umineko, it's made by the same guy.

Anyone hear about the Black Rock Shooter (http://www.blackrockshooter.jp) anime that's coming out? Looks pretty cool. Seems to be based off of...metal...or something. And big guns. And hot chicks.

Blood+ was an interesting one.

I honestly cannot think of anything else. Well, anything that isn't typically very shoujo/romance orientated/shounen-ai

I'M A GIRL, SHUT UP -sobs in corner-

I haven't watched anything lately anyways, and I really don't know what's out anymore. :C

Oh, and give Grave of the Fireflies a watch ;A;

Title: Re: Animes

I should have also mentioned I read a lot of romance manga. Anyone know of Chibi Vampire?

Title: Re: Animes

I found Blood+ to be pretty "meh!" which didn't stop me from watching all of it. passable entertainment. You should rather get Blood: The Last Vampire, the original animated movie that spawned it all.

Title: Re: Animes
Post by: Dark_Fox on August 25, 2009, 02:57:55 pm
no. It's quite different since the mechs themselves are near sentient beings. It's also heavily influenced by music. It's also really similar to Neon Genesis Evangelion except for the part where it tries to steal your inner child.

Title: Re: Animes

so we shall call it : Freud Gundam Evangelion.

Lucky Star -3-

It's no story-based anime, full of action or whatever. But it's great.

Tokyo Drift in cartoon form?

Title: Re: Animes

no.  This was made before Tokyo Drift, and is actually entertaining.

Title: Re: Animes
Post by: Grammer on August 26, 2009, 03:14:39 am
There's Mnemosyne (wow, actually spelled that right) if you want some freaky shit. Mind, it's intended for mature audiences.

Higurashi no noku koro ni is an excellent horror anime.
Skullman if you want a decent, short, supernatural mystery anime.

Gantz if you want to walk screaming away from your computer. It's a fucking waste of time.

Don't  forget the "Bubblegum Crisis" franchise. It's kind of like "Iron Man", but with several hot babes in armor instead of one scruffy guy.

Title: Re: Animes

Is Bubblegum Crisis worth looking into?

Title: Re: Animes
Post by: TheLastOutlaw on August 28, 2009, 11:10:35 am
It's not bad.  The original series is great entertainment just due to the cheezy factor.  Priss is random swearing girl which makes her awesome.  The newer one I haven't seen.

Lucky Star is awesomely funny. I recommend the OVA, too.

Just found City Hunter. It was recommended to me a long time ago and is supposed to be one of the anime royalties. Supposedly worth a watch. Keep in mind that it's pretty old, though.

Axis Powers Hetalia is hilarious. Each episode is only 5 minutes long but they're funny as hell. A lot of them are up on YouTube if you wanna check them out.

Or you can read it C: It's just about a bunch of personified countries. The anime got cancelled cause Korea found it personally offensive, even though they hadn't even had their country appeared yet. ((Even though every persona is very stereotypical :C ))

I read the Pumpkin Scissors manga, not seen the anime.
Now, let's face the facts.
95% of anime is crap. but that five percent, there, that is pure amazement.
That is Excel Saga,
Hellsing Ultimate,
Elfen Lied (CREEPY AS HELL. But awesomely awesome.)
and Ultimate Blue.
I would defend the honor of those last two with a rusty hacksaw, so don't try me. A warning, tho. Elfen Lied will fuck you up. Also, THE NUDITY IS ARTISTIC, DAMMIT!

So far the only Anime that I have liked was Black Lagoon, Pumpkin Scissors, and... That's about it...
I can't stand all this Naruto, and Inuyasha BS. No offense to those who like it.
There's so many animes, it can be hard to find one you like.

It wasn't the story itself that made me think of how amazing it was, but more the accurate transition of how the characters looked.  L looks JUST like his anime counterpart, as do most of the others.

The thing with anime is that there's so god damn much of it, it's pretty much impossible to find something you don't like.

Those of you who like Black Lagoon should check out Baccano. I haven't seen all of it, but it's very promising. The premise? Mafia war in New York, with some truly memorable and just plain cool characters.

(Do mind that I love Black Lagoon and would not place it, like and recommended in the same sentence unless I really mean it.)

And the nudity in Elfen Lied isn't artistic, it's fan dis-service :P (And yes, I love that show, too.)

And one final one for you action freaks: Darker Than Black, also an excellent one.

Title: Re: Animes

The Manga is way completely different from the lame tv show.
In the Manga Yugi goes around giving criminals Ironic Punishments. Not playing cards.
I never could stand the show. Its like the global economy was based around playing those cards in the show.

Title: Re: Animes

What if they made one now, although copying the global economic downturn and including the giant playing card monsters?
It would be like Mad Max, our heroes riding through a barren wasteland, pursued by be-mohawked biker gangs and his greatest foes, all in search of precious cards.

It's still one of my favorite anime, not so much the sequels though.

... Why aren't you watching Shangri-La yet?

Needless. Just... Needless. Go watch it. It's awesome.

Maria+Holic is growing on me, too. Though there's still a lot of facepalms while watching.

EDIT: Cromartie Highschool! A series about a school full of crazy delinquents. It's random and it has Freddie Mercury and a brain-exposed gorilla wandering the halls and showing up at random. Also, it makes no sense whatsoever and is totally awesome.

Oh, and Grenadier, which really is a series TZ should watch, if only because it redefines Hug of Doom!

I just saw the first episode of the Halo Legends anime, titled "The Babysitter", which was amazing.
It's about 4 ODST's who go on a mission to assassinate a prophet, the "Babysitter" being a Spartan who joins them, something the ODST's are not particularly fond of.

Desert Punk. Pretty funny, takes place in post-apocalyptic Japan where its all a giant desert. The main character is obsessed with girls, boobs and sex. Lots of action mostly. I liked it.

I saw the second episode of the Halo Legends mini anime series, titled "The Duel", it has a very cool 3D Watercolor art style. It's about an Arbiter and how he goes all Heretical and shit against the prophets, and pays the price, it was made, and produced by Production I.G, the same guys who the Ghost in the Shell movies, and TV shows.

EDIT: And Ghost in the Shell is what I'm watching right now! :D

Kuroshitsuji is totoally awesome,. and should be watched. Especially the OVA, which is hillarious, if you've watched the series. Watch the series, at least to ep 12 before wathing that OVA.

Kampfer: OMFG hot girls. And that is all. Oh, and gender bender. Hilariou gender bender.

So, I went through all of the anime series that actually had episodes up on FUNimation's site. Most of the ones I bookmarked are ones I heard of from other people or already saw some of myself, but I decided to watch Shakugan no Shana pretty much because I liked the art. I'm glad I did, it's pretty good, though they only have eight episodes up. I'll have to get the rest off Netflix or something. Also, Shana has long red hair (when fighting), a sword that emits flames, and fire wings. This seems familiar for some reason...

Wheres the Chat on animetip?
EDIT: Nevermind, found it, it just wouldn't appear unless I clicked on it. I'm gonna set my name as Yutrzenika.

EDIT: Saw the second part of Halo Legends The Package by Shinji Aramaki. It's very well done, and entertaining, but they had to make some inaccuracies by Anime-ing it up, they gave Kelly Purple hair (It's supposed to be brown), and Dr. Halsey is blond, and looks like she 16, she's supposed to be 60, with black graying hair. If she was supposed to be young, then she should have looked like Cortana (As she is based off Halsey when she was Young), and then Chief would have been much younger, and about chief in the anime, he sounded kinda like Snake, and made him kinda whiny.

EDIT (Again XD): Ok, so I'm watching episode 20 of Ghost in the Shell SAC on AnimeTip.com, and towards the end the English Subtitles just stop, there's still plenty more Japanese talking, but they're no subtitles to go with it. What gives?

I have to say, this I did not see coming. The only part of the opening animation I didn't get makes sense now though.

Edit: God damn it. I was hoping that wasn't what was happening. Oh well.

Edit2: Well, it actually played out almost exactly the same way, so I guess it's okay.

I got Volume 1, and 2 of Black Lagoon. I'm not sure if its a mistake, or if it was intended, but a few of the speech bubbles are out of wack. Like in one bubble, a character is yelling, the speech bubble is pretty big, with little text, and the text is all the way to the right of the bubble, as far as it can go without going outside the bubble.

The Hellsing Ultimate Series OVAs are some of the most badass works I've seen. In a world where you can dwnload anything, THEY WARRENTED PURCHASE. at $25 a pop, I find them worth it. (Stupidsexycrispinfreeman! >:()

I feel the need to watch Tenchi: Universe...definately the best version. Also, Gundam 08th MS Team.

Trinity Blood is good too, and the Negima manga is really good, and if you are looking for a funny classic, go with Love Hina! The manga is far far superior though.

man, too much ground to cover huh?

I know, that is amazing!

Anyway, last night I watched Banner of the Stars, 4 eps of Zettai Karen Children, Puni Puni Poemi and an episode of Angel Blade with two friends. Let's put it like this:

Banner of the Stars: Very good sci-fi, light drinking.

Zettai Karen Children: Good child based esper show. Lots of laughing, heavier drinking. (Mostly due to cheesyness and engrish.)

Puni Puni Poemi: My companions died a bit inside while I laughed. Heavy drinking. Very heavy drinking, actually. The show is a magical girl parody and is completely fuckings insane. You've not actually seen insane before you've seen that show. Oh, and it's banned in New Zealand as child porn. (It isn't, but I see why they would decide on it.) Worth watching, as long as you don't mind killing bits of your soul. So the soul-less ones of you should be fine.

Angel Blade is a hentai best summed up with the words "she's CUMMING LASERS!". Yeah. it's not the kind of shit you watch to get aroused, it's the kind of thing you watch with mates, while most of the way down at least one bottle (1l) of liquor. It's incredibly funny under those conditions. But if you actually watch it to get of, there might be something wrong with you...

Sorry, but you're screwed.
The ending of soul eater is the same as the ending of Gantz.
It is made up. Filler replacing the original.
It is OVER, to put it bluntly.

The ORIGINAL line is going on in the (still ongoing) manga.

Here you can read the manga. Somewhere along the line it all of a sudden differs from the anime.
Spoiler: There is no final battle with the Kishin, yet.

Magical Girl with a chainsaw, that's genius right there.
Definitely can't wait for the next installment.

Edit: Checked out IS: Infinite Stratos and I have to admit, I'm a bit of a sucker for mecha and comedy/school life.

A guy alone in a world of women? Check. School setting? Double check. Harem? Have those checks in triplicate.
Mecha that only one gender can pilot? Check. Bonus points for him being the sole exception.
Tsundere female? Check (Also doubles as a childhood friend)
Oujo who is holier than thou? Check.
Big sister who works there/is a part of the school? Check.

I'll probably get more enjoyment out of this than I should, considering how generic it seems but I'm alright with that. And it fills the season's requirement for a harem/school setting anime.

Edit II: For the marathon, watching The Legend of the Legendary Heroes (Great stuff, nice rec BB) and Katanagatari whenever Megavideo allows me.
And Iron Man, if I have enough time.

I think if I get time I'm going to watch Evangelion sometime. I heard it was good.
Right'o. Imagine this:
A very good looking girl is flirting with you. You go over to your place and you are slowly entering the bedroom. She starts undressing.
Right before she takes off her top, she suddenly Ninja-kicks you in the nuts, steals your wallet and runs laughing out of the house.
That is Evangelion.
But go ahead. Evangelion is the anime that saved the anime industry from collapsing. See, the anime industry wasn't doing really well and was on the verge of pretty much disappearing. Then Evangelion came along and took the world by storm.
It seems like after Evangelion, Gainax got the habit of totally trolling the viewers of their animes.

Edit:
One Piece... episode 483... I was prepared for this, but it... it is so sad :'(
Fucking hell, Oda, this is the second time you've made me cry!

That list up there is one awesome collection, yo!
Though the second episode of Freezing will decide if I drop the show or not. I won't watch an anime that doesn't follow the freaking manga. They already fucked up the beginning with those fucked up "simulation" battles that never happened in the manga.
Hell, there was more nudity in the anime than in the manga! How does that work?

And why is Black lagoon season 3 using such a god awful amount of time between each episode? It isn't like if it is the Hellsing OVA, and if it did try to be like that, they could at least properly present the characters!
They already killed the introduction of Fabiola by making her just another no-nonsense terminator character.
Gee, I wonder if they left out or toned down the part where it is revealed that the shooting in the bar was in fact the first time she had ever killed someone.

I'll probably watch another episode or two of Freezing before I decide if I'll stall on it or continue on. And the battles help satisfy the expectations of boobs and violence, and I expect that to outclass the plot.
Executives deciding that nudity is important in an anime like this?

And to think I could have been watching a children's card game instead...

Don't tell me that you're seriously going to watch it?

That, or Vanguard!! Collectible Card Game.
Granted that I only know it has Vanguard (Unsure about the exclamation marks) in the title and that it explained the rules in the first episode (From what I've heard). Those zany children's trading card games that are more important than politics...

If Zexal takes place in a school setting, I could just watch GX where kids pay good money to enlist in an academy specializing in teaching youngsters on how to be better duelists for a children's trading card game. Hell, I would watch it for the absurdity of it all. Or a few episodes in season 3 for the award-winning dialogue.
But if I want absurdity, then I have Excel Saga for that fix.

Edit: The royalties for the franchise...

Can't you watch it streamed? (http://www.animetip.com/watch-anime/b/black-lagoon-season-3)
I could but I hate watching movies on my PC.  When I'm on a PC I multitask like a squirrel on crack.  I can't kick back an enjoy watching something when I'm juggling IM conversations, surfing the net, writing, messing about with PhotoShop, etc. etc.  I've tried a few times, it just doesn't work.

I don't see a single children's card game in mechs anywhere. But I do enjoy comedy/mecha... and with mecha comes action, which I enjoy as well.

So I'm watching the 15th episode of To Aru Majutsu No Index II.
And one of the previous antagonists reappear.
First I was like "Why is she all roughed up?" and then I saw that she wasn't.
Naw, she is now just a Catholic nun with completely revealing clothing!
Does the creator of TAMNI even care about the religions he so horribly represents?

I want this to happen again as soon as possible.
You're either a nun or a stripper. You can't be both at the same time, sorry!
Aaaaaaaaaand now the plot of the arc is to save some bitches before they are punished.
How are they to be punished?
By having their brains remodeled and cognitive thinking removed.
Yes... they'll punish them by... *ugh* breaking their free will. Ruining people's "free will" is one of the things that the Catholic church is heavily against. Which is why already in the medieval ages, they didn't let any boys be raised in cloisters.

Edit:
Ok, I'll give them points for using Wakamoto Norio (http://www.anime-planet.com/people/norio-wakamoto) as the voice actor of one of the new main antagonists.
The voice of a god!

I watched quite a bit of Inuyasha and then realized I had seen it before when it was Dragonball.  It's not bad but it got repetitive enough for me to lose interest.

What I found both hilarious and sad is how long the show went on and how many filler episodes it had, yet they couldn't finish the show. And we had to wait years for them to make the last 21 episodes. 21 episodes! And a gap of like 6-7 years!

So, I finally got around to watching the first three episodes of Puella Magi Madoka Magica. It is a "Magical Girl" anime. I put that in quotations because, well.....how to put it, it may have magical girls and everything in it but....well, here is a scene from the first episode:

So, yeah. Crazy things like that going around. Think of it along the lines of what Eva was for giant mech animes.

Anyways, it was pretty good besides being emotionally scarring and such.

I need to try to see the second episode of Freezing today.
I'll be even angrier at the show now if it continues to deviate from the manga. Why? Because there came a new manga chapter out now.
And it was all emotional and shit in an awesome way! The thought of that being fucked with angers me.
Freezing is like Strike witches. Just better. Much better.

And I think I'll stall on Kimi Ni Todoke season 2 until there are more episodes. The drama that will ensue is better if I get to watch several episodes in one go, so that the tension doesn't disappear while waiting for new episodes.

And I seriously need to start watching Fairy Tail again. >_>
Its been like 10 weeks.

And episode 16 of Bakuman. Shit, school have been eating me.

Title: Re: What Anime Are you Currently Watching III: Because Nothing Else Matters
Post by: BrainBlow on January 26, 2011, 09:37:01 am
Trigun was the first anime I successfully completed in one night.
26 episodes in one night. Most anime marathons don't go that well because you constantly wind up with distractions that pull you away from the anime. This was not the case with Trigun.

Title: Re: What Anime Are you Currently Watching III: Because Nothing Else Matters

Started watching episode 10 of Shinryaku! Ika Musume, as my computer didn't want me to watch it earlier.
The difference between the two drawings made me exclaim "Holy shit!", and then laughter ensued.
Someday Trigun... someday...

Edit: Might be one of my favorite episodes of Ika Musume, but that could be because it was the most recent one I watched. But damn, that baseball game was crazy.

I finished rewatching Trigun Saturday, then spent Sunday with an epic day long marathon of drinking hard liquor, beer and watching Seasons 1 and 2 of Black Lagoon .  I need to get my hands on another copy of disc 3, season 1.  The last two episodes skip horribly...  This series is cursed for me, I already had to replace season 1 disc 1 because it broke when I was removing it from the friggin' collector tin box.

Mainly Shakugan no Shana with Rie Kugimiya as her usual role ;D and Samurai 7, with Hetalia World Series if I need a quick fix.

Edit: Watched an OVA (Voices of a Distant Star), a few movies and currently Maison Ikkoku. Easily one of the best in the Romantic/Comedy genre hybrid and love triangle genre.

It made so little sense but was pretty good, in it's messed up way.
Still remember reading the manga a few times, which didn't make more sense with each additional read.

Finished Samurai 7 a few hours ago and caught up with Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?, which leaves me with the camp Star Driver (One more episode or two until I'm caught up), the bonkers Excel Saga, the oh-so-charming Maison Ikkoku and the incredibly generic yet oddly enjoyable (In a generic way) Infinite Stratos.

So generic.

MAHOU SHOUJO MADOKA MAGICA (otherwise known as puella magi madoka magica i don't know why it has two different titles it's japan~~~) IT IS GLORIOUS. It's drawn in this really cutesy style that would normally make me gag and throw the computer against the wall, but the storyline is pretty grimdark, and there are instances where the animation just goes CRAZY and it's just this huge juxtaposition and it's AWESOME.

Well, you might not get a chance to. It's been under scrutiny from ~concerned parents~ who don't think it's okay showing thirteen-year-old girls fighting to the death every episode and things like that, and now with the situation over in Japan, it may be cancelled. The big bad of the show was an event called Walpurgis Night, which was going to majorly fuck everyone's shit up, and (it's implied) send the world into massive chaos (none of that is a spoiler, don't worry). So it's quite likely that the creators of the show will think it's in bad taste to show the Japan-centered world of the show getting destroyed.

hhh.

No way they would cancel it. And with what's happening in Japan, hopefully it and the others for the Winter 2011 season (And Spring 2011) would still be alright.
Even more waiting for Baka to Test S2.

Took so long to wrap up Higurashi but it was still decent. Going to watch the second season eventually, but sooner rather than later.
Otherwise, pretty much only a bi-weekly/weekly dose of Katanagatari and daily doses of Yakitate!! Japan and a bit of Nurarihyon no Mago. Yakitate... so stupidly funny and with ham.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu: Matsuri (http://www.animetip.com/baka-to-test-to-shoukanjuu-matsuri-episode-1.html), such tears of joy... how I missed this series! And there's fan-service in the first minute  :humpingparrot:

I saw a few episodes and it was alright: have it on stalled and mean to get back to it if I'm in the mood for something violent, stupid and filled with fan-service. Those three and even the latter two are a guilty pleasure.

Getting some more episodes of Higurashi S2 in and kinda mixed about it.

The second season was pushed back until Summer 2011, I believe.
Wednesday is now the new greatest day of the week.

Nothing beats traps, eh?

Caught the first episode of Battle Girls: Time Paradox and I could have easily picked something better to kick off the Spring 2011 season.

Waiting for The World God Only Knows 2 to start so in the meantime, choosing Spring 2011 anime at random. Tiger & Bunny is a must and will make everything look worse in comparison.

Next up: Hana-Saku Iroha. Hana-Kimi is a pansy manga series so I expect this to be pretty shoujo/wussy.

That one took me by surprise. I expected something more... wussy and shoujo and not as compelling. It was either the poetic wording in the beginning, the scenery or the main character and the events that brought her to the hot springs or all of them that hooked me. Pretty good stuff.

And Tiger & Bunny. Great start and met my expectations.

Started watching Eureka 7. I remember watching it when it was first on YTV's Bionix night time slot for anime and stuff, and I liked it then but only saw the first episode or two. I'm really liking the surfer vibe it's giving off right now, it's pretty sick.

^ Been wanting to watch that for ages but keep on putting it off. And I remember it on Bionix as well and should have watched it then.

Checked out a few more of this season's anime line-up and saw some pretty odd-ball stuff. Too early to judge half of them as some are so crazy and confusing.

Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai 2; Hells yeah! Tsundere in the first episode  :humpingparrot:
C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control; A wha? Mad Hatter + Count of Gankutsuou fame, money fuelinng magical powers in a Financial District and a girl with antlers. Definitely one I'll keep up on.
Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai; multiple stories and the credits made it... different. But adult humor mixed with dirty humor makes for some good fun.

Just finished all of Neon Genesis Evangelion - the whole series, the movies, everything - for the second time.

You know, I had forgotten exactly how much fourteen-year-old nudity there was, especially towards the end with the movies.

I watched Nichijou episode 3 as well as Hanasaku Iroha episode 3 which was quite funny. Good times.

Edit: I started watching Baccano! Finished the first episode (dubbed) and it's interesting. I'm not exactly sure what's going on so I might go back and watch it again later.

It's one of the few that demands to be watched dubbed. Enjoyed the hell out of it and love Issac and Maria as the lovable idiot duo.

Finished Rio: Rainbow Gate! yesterday and it was crap. A guilty pleasure maybe, but crap.

I fucking love Issac and Maria! They are by far the best two characters so far.

Finished Baccano! And it's still fucking awesome. Started Honey and Clover which is pretty good so far, only 3 episodes in, and I'm on episode 2 of Welcome to the N.H.K which is great so far too.

Most recently, Hetalia and a bit of Yakitate!! Japan.

Hetalia is pretty good for it's short episodes but Yakitate takes the bread and bakes it with it's sheer absurdity and puns on bread. Hell, even the title is a pun!
But dear God... so stupid. Funny, but stupid.

Haven't caught up with this season's line-up though but there are few I do intend to keep up with.

Hanasaku Iroha and Nichijou are both personal favorites of mine this line up.

Title: Re: What Anime Are you Currently Watching III: Because Nothing Else Matters
Post by: HK-47 on April 28, 2011, 02:39:42 pm
Probably going to start Nichijou soon, but if it's anything like Cromartie in how oddball stuff is, then it's already good. Iroha is still a personal favorite of mine of this season as well. Haven't caught up yet but the latest episode is there for when I need my fix. And it keeps on maintaining a good amount of enjoyment per episode, or simply on par with the episode before it; Consistent in quality.

Got my monthly episode of Katanagatari and they changed the OP. Still good but even better is the scenery. Gorgeous as usual and some great stuff yet again.

Going to start rewatching TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN!! on Monday, and all caps (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewc1hixzYPY) because it is what it is.

For this season, I wish there was more subbed episodes for Shouwa Monogatari TV. It's... mundane. Boring isn't really the proper term but it's realistic enough to seem boring. It's one of the unsung heroes of the season and probably wouldn't get much viewers. It's a shame but it's so... real. Nothing strange or out of the ordinary. Not even Hyouge Mono matches it, and that's part pottery.

Almost done Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. Saw the episodes of Nichijou and Hanasaku Iroha today. I gotta finish Welcome to the N.H.K and then I heard Summer Wars was good so I might check that out after.

Edit For The Win: Finished Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, now I just gotta buy them on dvd >.> Also, Summer Wars was really entertaining, reminded me a lot of the first Digimon movie. Watched some more of Honey and Clover, which is also really good. Aww yee

HK, you need to watch Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (Or AnoHana for short). It's totally awesome drama type thingy. So good.

Already a couple of episodes into it and enjoying it. Thought it would be more serious and depressing but has a nice amount of comedy and pleasantness to it, despite the overall premise.

Title: Re: What Anime Are you Currently Watching III: Because Nothing Else Matters
Post by: Jetraymongoose on May 09, 2011, 10:54:21 am
It can be really depressing in the overall premise. It makes me sad sometimes, but its so good.

EDIT: HK, if you want a really good rom/com, then you have to watch Honey and Clover. I'm almost done the first season and it's cracked me up so much, but its also deep and thought provoking. Also it's centered around an arts school, so art!

Title: Re: What Anime Are you Currently Watching III: Because Nothing Else Matters
Post by: HK-47 on May 12, 2011, 12:07:55 pm
If this prevents me from catching up on this season's stuff, you might keep your head.
Still have to catch up with my drama, slice-of-life, slow-paced pottery in the Meiji era (Jokes on that one, don't know when the Meiji era is) and at least one arc of The World God Only Knows 2.

But it has been a while since I had a good rom/com on my watching list. And I do like my art.

Dammit! This will mean that Stan lives.
If this is as good as Maison Ikkoku (The manga version at least), then his blood wouldn't be on my hands.

Edit: Going to wrap up Gurren Lagann and then start Honey & Clover. Hate having to decide on watching something awesomely badass and utterly heartwarming.

And this just in:

(click to show/hide)

Finally... Baka to Test! I'm crying at the thought of it finally being here.

I saw the trailer for the Higurashi OVA and I wept at what it turned into. Lord knows I'll watch that crap.

Mahou... Sensei Negima!... wut. No loli's in sight. This ain't the normal Negima!, that's for sure. But if Shaft was the one behind Madoka, then it makes more sense.

And I'll check out Manyuu Hikenchou because it's so shamelessly stupid. So completely utterly- I mean, the description immediately states that it's pure, ecchi filth! Guilty pleasure? Hell yes. Probably. Ain't watching it for the plot.
On that note, R-15. Porn writer using his skills to win interclass competitions? Sounds sleazy with all comedy and no plot. Could be a hit or a spectacular crash and burn.

Otherwise, Usagi Drop. Sounds familiar even though I've never read it and looks to be up my alley.

Nice to see Nurarihyon no Mago got a second season and that the Marvel/Madhouse anime series are nearly finished.

That's it for now, might sum up more thoughts later on.

Edit II: Cat Soup. What the fuck.
And that sums it up.

Anohana is super sad. I've been watching that and Hanasaku Iroha. Love those two. I might also watch Durarara and Gurren Lagann.

Durarara is pretty awesome. Also HK, when does the summer anime season start? More specifically, when does the second season of Baka to Test start? I want it to start, like you know, tomorrow.

EDIT: I finished Durarara, it was AWESOME!

Title: Re: What Anime Are you Currently Watching III: Because Nothing Else Matters
Post by: HK-47 on June 07, 2011, 04:02:03 pm
All I know is that Baka to Test starts in July. Have yet to finish Durarara, but it reminds me of Baccano!, which is more than enough for a reason to finish it.

Nyanpire the Animation. And Jesus yes! Something by the creator of Cromartie High School! If it's like Cromartie but with cute girls, I'm sold.

And most unfortunately, Stanley lives. Honey and Clover wasn't what I expected. Pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the hell out of that first episode.

Gonna wrap up those two later on in the month and just keep up with four or so for this season.

Double J is seriously like Cromartie and a bit like Arakawa but in 5 minute segments.

And Usagi Drop? The animation is so... beautiful. It looks like everything is hand-drawn and that OP? I don't remember smoking anything. First episode was great and reminds me of Hanasaku in how it's so laid back and peaceful. Hardly the same though, but a pretty good first episode.

Still waiting on Baka to Test S2 but will probably have to wait for tomorrow.

Fair enough. Spice and Wolf II. And get your fix of Baka to Test, with the sub of episode 2 of next season coming out tomorrow.

Cat Soup, 30 minutes of a dope trip. Cromartie might not be obscure but it's pretty good, depending on your taste in comedy. Absolutely have to try it out and cannot be mentioned enough in the forums.

Second episode of Baka to Test is out. (http://www.animefreak.tv/watch/baka-test-shoukanjuu-ni-episode-2-online) Long live Saturdays!

Edit: Started up Yosuga no Sora again, despite it being a lesser Amagami SS and perverted crap of Mr. Bitches and his exploits with some dames. Begun again with episode 7 and the most misleading beginning, it reveals a bit of his past with the glasses girl.

Finished Neon Genesis Evangelion. I really liked it, the ending was confusing as hell and I might go rewatch the last couple episodes, but I really really enjoyed. I don't know if I should watch End of Evangelion, or whatever that's called, the remake of the last 2 episodes.

Ao no Exorcist
Hanasaku Iroha
Ikoku Meiro no Croisée
Kamisama Dolls
Kamisama no Memochou
Mawaru Penguindrum
Mayo Chiki!
Morita-san wa Mukuchi
Natsume Yuujinchou San
Nekogami Yaoyorozu
Nichijou
No.6
R-15
Ro-Kyu-Bu!
Sacred Seven
SKET Dance
Steins;Gate
Usagi Drop

I'm watching way too much shit...I was watching even more last season though. XD

Finished Otome Youkai Zakuro a couple weeks ago. Tried watching The World of Golden Eggs, but I can't find a decent subbed version anywhere, so that's on hold. And I'm currently acquiring Haibane Renmei. From...uh...a store what exists somewhere, actually.

Rewatching Toradora!, If there was a heart smiley, I would use it for that. And it's perfect after watching a shit anime.

I'm currently watching Supernatural: The Animation. Yes it's exactly what it sounds like, an anime version of Supernatural. It's surprisingly good though!

Caught up with Baka to Test (Still great with a surprising amount of plot) and finished episode 5 of Diabetes: The Anime, or Usagi Drop as it's main name. So heartwarming that I shed tears multiple times. So touching but so damn amazing. If this has a satisfying ending, it has to win best anime of the year.

Edit: This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SEJ8P97yD0&feature=related) and Popee the Performer makes me appreciate anime that isn't as shit as it. I could celebrate by watching some low-grade ecchi.

Currently watching High School of the Dead for the second time, this time the Funimation dub. It's actually not too bad, the voices seem to fit the characters well and the dialogue's not too changed up.

The shit I'll be watching this weekend:

Popee the Performer
Popee the Performer Dubbed
Funny Pets 2
Mr.Stain on Junk Alley
Cat Soup (Maybe)

Excluding Cat Soup, that's just a wicked trip. Maybe on Popee the Performer non-dub but definitely seeing number 31 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbPvJGwcFr0&NR=1).

Edit: Just remembered Tiger & Bunny and thought, "fuck yeah shit bitches!"
Episode 25

More Baka to test. Did they just make a reference to 4Chan terminology? :l

EDIT: Oh. That was the end of the season? Blaw.

Wrapped up Mayo Chiki!, which was a delightful comedy with part harem and part ecchi but not heavy in either one. Last episode caught me off guard and even though it feels unfinished, I'm satisfied.

And started School City Valanoir, which I heard was shit (Guilty pleasure of watching crap anime) and it is shit. Also looks like shit, sounds like shit and I felt my intelligence go down so low that I nearly fell out of my chair.
But honestly, they used most of their budget in the first 7 minutes. Six minutes. That's how bad it is.
Fucking shit. Not even a crappy musical number can save it.

Mirai Nikki, each episode tops the last and the third episode, that ending made me stifle a shout of delight.

Wrapped up Baka to Test S2, more of the same but I liked the same. Might not be as good as the first season or met my expectations but what ever does for something highly anticipated?

Caught up with the constantly adorable Mirai Nikki (Yuno is so cute!) and catching up with Ben-To, which is ridiculously awesome and hilarious.

Rewatching Spice and Wolf.
I'll never forget that amazing theme. And how it turns economics fun. And Holo. And Lawrence. And everything else about it.

Edi- HRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNN Second season of Amagami is a continuation of the stories from the first. Rihokoooooooooooo!!!!!

It came out around noon this morning. Was going to watch some NGE after an amazing episode 18 but I saw this and after a bit of profanity, immediately went to it.
I didn't even know it was going to be out today, just that it was this season.

Episode 1

The progression was a bit predictable but I'm just glad it's Amagami and it does feel like a continuation of the first season. Which is a glorious, glee-inducing compliment.

Is she resting her head on some pillows? Nope, just her big ol' titties.

And really, to not show panties at least once every 3 minutes would just be a crime.

You should definitely watch Manyuu Hiken-chou uncensored, titties in the first ten seconds!
And it's legit, because it's about boobs.  :humpingparrot:

I'll make it even worse:

"One's power lies in the size of one's boobs; the bigger the rack, the more wealth and power you have. To compliment this, the Manyuu clan has a secret sword technique of breast reduction without physically harming the titties and the power to add to one's own mammaries, or in other terms, breast expansion through a secret technique, which might not need the boobies of another to grow."

Yo dawg, I heard you like anime so I C/P a Spring 2012 Season Chart right to your car. Or computer.
It's also ridiculously big for your inconvenience.
HUGE.

(click to show/hide)

Not only do we get Thomas the fucking Tank Engine, but also Train Hero, no doubt totally awesome and about people doing badass shit to stop runaway trains with transformation sequences; high expectations for this one.
Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka S2, season 1 was magnificent when it was about a comedy and still pretty good otherwise.
Zetman looks as manly as Fist of the North Star and if it's as badass and uncensored, it'll be great. Violence  :humpingparrot:
Acchi Kocchi has a Tsundere, so I'm sold. Don't know what it's about though, but I could care less.
Ozuma, from the maker of Space Captain Harlock, which was pretty great.
Tsuritama for the eyes. It's slice-of-life and stuff, probably school life and comedy. But them eyes sold me.
Nazo no Kanojo X (Mysterious Girlfriend X?), had to mention it because it's about a guy who tasted a girl's drool after she drooled on her desk. Fetish fuel for some.
And everything else, missed a few good ones.

OVA/Movies; Amagami SS+, Seitokai Yakuindomo, Yamoto 2199 and girls without pants. I mean lolis without pants. Which means panty shots.

Catching up to Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita, pretty good from the two episodes I saw and gets hilariously dark and has a nice WTF factor to it. And the art, fucking glorious, looks like a painting or hand drawn with pencil crayons at times.

Stalled on it some time ago but it was pretty good and the music, smashing. You know I stall on the good stuff, no matter how much I like it, but I'll get back to it someday.

Taking it slow but Sakamichi no Apollon (Kids on the Slope), I came for the jazz and what I'm getting aside from amazing tunes is a love story, multiple romances and while it may feel familiar (Don't want to say predictable) in terms of romantic progression, it's just so damn good.

Afro vs Afro Droid, that fight in the sky had a damn amazing piece and one of my favorite battles in the series. Also the start, Ron Perlman and Samuel L. Jackson with some funky beats; fucking badass.

Somehow that school sounds wickedly evil if you need torrents, but I know you'll get all the good stuff.
How much can you get? Space wise and episode wise?

Well it's not really the school. I have an apartment now in Ottawa but because my girlfriend and I are on a budget as we are both poor university students, we can only get a limited internet package and I can't really afford to go over so by getting my friend to burn some animes for me I can just watch them on my dvd player.

I asked him to burn:
- Spice and Wolf season 1 (I already own season 2 on legitimate dvd)
- Toradora
- Baccano
- Durarara

If I find anymore that I want I can just ask him and pay him 5 bucks a disc as I am already.

HK I'm sure you approve of that list so far.

Just finished watching Claymore.  It was good but talk about a non ending.  No resolution to any of the plot threads at all.  No talk of a sequel either.  Bluh.

Kept up with the manga until chapter 100 or so, but did the anime have that totally awesome fight in the north?

Totally understandable, all university students are poor and streaming would take loads of internet usage space, let alone downloading the quality stuff. Tragic, but I'm glad you have a back-up to get your fix.

Baccano had better be dubbed, and Ladd Ruso is so much fun as a psychopath. Real fun with the characters and the music, especially the lovable duo Issac and Maria.
Durarara, liked Baccano more but still some real solid stuff with more great music, amazing first OP/EP combo, a great cast of characters and some cameo/shoutouts and Celty. But you should watch Baccano first, if just for a moment in the middle of Durarara. It was glorious.

You're always a gentleman of excellent taste  :monocle:

I recently started a great anime called Jormungand, about an arms dealer named Koko with her band of soldiers and their exploits in the arms trading business. It's got action, humor, and an interesting cast of character, what more do you need?

Theres more than just one character, I just couldn't be arsed to name them all (Also I only just started watching so I can't really remember their names yet). But theres a Child Soldier named Jonah, a chick named Valmet... uhhh, yeah, all the characters in that picture I showed are the main characters though.

Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere: not as pervy as I thought, not as mecha, not as action-y or harem, episode 4 lived up to my expectations and then some, when they fight it's so fucking awesome and I don't get the plot one bit. But those fights, holy shit they're good.

I'm watching Durarara!!

Remember back in the day when you had to go to Best Buy or even worse Suncoast Video for your Anime and you were paying 20 bucks a pop for discs that only had 3 or 4 episodes on them?  I do and they sucked.  But this complete reversal where NO ONE fucking stocks Anime that isn't Dragonball or Miyazaki sucks just as bad.  I like being able to look at new stuff that's coming out, I'm a casual grazing impulse shopper.  The internet is not the same.  Just a couple years ago I could pick up Black Lagoon on a whim and be like "Fuck, this shit be tight yo, I need to watch the rest!"  Now the only place I see Anime is in used disc shops and the FIRST DISC IS ALREADY GONE!  ALWAYS!  I get that people buy the first disc because they want to see if they like it or not before buying the rest of the series, but shit, think about what you're doing.  YOU'RE HOLDING THE WHOLE SERIES HOSTAGE UNTIL YOU MAN UP AND BUY THE REST.  Or god forbid, sell the disc back because it was shite but fuck no, that first disc NEVER comes back.

Maybe this should have went into the PP thread?

Meh...

EDIT:  I just went to google "used anime" and before I was even done typing one of the first autocompletes that appears is "used animal crematories"  Really?  There's a market for this?  What the F#|<?

You hip, urban youth and your fancy thingamabobs with the doo-hickeys and flim-flam box of magic.

Spoiler is huge spoiler, the season is creeping up and this time, going to pick out some random crap and try to keep up with them. One or two exceptions though, ones I try with an intent to watch but eventually stall on.:
Litchi de Hikari Club, if it lives up to the manga (So hard to get into but so disturbing) and doesn't cut back on the material, this will be one of the best in the season.
BTOOOM! because, you know, it's about explosions and shit. Literally about blowing up your opponents. That is one of the best premises ever.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure The Animation, always wanted to check it out and looks as badass as hell.
Seikon no Ichizon S2, loved the first season
Aoi Sekai no Chuushin de, the description alone makes it worth a watch.
The Tiger & Bunny movie, the series was just fantastic.

And this one's for you JRM, Amagami SS+ Onsen Special!

I watched the entire series and I found myself enjoying it more than I thought. I'm trying to find a place to look through to get the light novels, though. I tried my awesome used bookstore (powells, a city block of books. le awesome) but they only have number 3. I guess I'll look online for it.

A city block of books and only one? And #3? What kind of crap is more important than light novels?
But gawd, the only used bookstores of note we have around here is BMV, an apartment floor of stuff.

I can't afford getting my anime on DVD (Except for Animatrix on VHS), but like before, there are some series I would love to have on DVD, or some volumes at least. Not at eye-gouging prices though.
Those douchebags that only take the first disc, there's a place for them in hell, where all there is to watch is shit. Funny Pets level of shit (http://www.nicovideo.jp/search/funny%20pets?track=nicouni_search_keyword).

It's not so much the animal crematories, even though that is really, completely creepy, but that they're used. As in "Welp, done all ma animal burnin', don't need this shit no more so gonna sell it on E-Bay."
Fuck. Now I'm stuck thinking about it.

Celty~ still my favorite in the show.

Watching some random episodes of School Rumble, dubbed, and some of the males are as hammy as ever. In particular Hanai and Toujo, except for the latter it's every line. God I love it.

Going to start Sket Dance this Friday and Persona 4: The Animation on Monday, when I finish the game.

Binbougami Ga!, one of the most hilarious shows I've watched as of late and this year in general. Frigging hilarious script and the mains have great chemistry.

Edit: Instead of checking out the new shows, watching some Persona 4: The Animation. It's remaining faithful enough to the game but speeds through some of the social links and melds them with some of the mandatory in-game events. The delivery girl for the Chinese Diner is a great addition though and the music, glorious as ever. Some of the events they expand more aside from the S.L. integration and the camp-out, they made it even better.

Onii-chan De... or If Me And My Brother Love Each Other It can't Be Wrong, Right?! or something. Moves a bit fast and ends abruptly, has the usual harem stuff but it's actually entertaining in a perverse way without going too much into plot. And the OP, you gotta check it out. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwgsislplOQ&lc=vwRzCYH_6l_YFUWfsXQZ27kbKJiU2-M9uQ832Xv6Nlg&feature=inbox) Not at work.

Also Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, some manly artwork for a cheese fest and Seitokai no Ichizon Lv.2, pretty good so far and it's growing on me again. The second half of episode 5 was priceless.

Because of Yut, Jormungand. About guns and shit. People shoot shit up, bullets are spent and Koko is just plain awesome. And guns, they give no shits about a plot and let the guns do the talking. Hell, it's just plain fun.

But seriously, guns. They even give the names of them, specific models and stuff. Pretty nice of them to do that.

Also been watching Upotte. It's the most wtf thing ever but strangely entertaining. It's basically about anthromorphic guns. Yeah, really. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfFWGspcVa0)

EDIT: Kino's Journey. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TABmuUHIRzs) About a young woman named Kino who travels the world with her talking motorbike, Hermes. They go around and visit a city for 3 days, each city having different beliefs, idelogies, and characteristics. It's very good.

I think I watched three or four episodes before I stopped. I should keep going but I was just like MEH MEH MEH. Anime isn't really my cup to tea, per se. I never really grew up with anime, so watching it just makes me feel weird, I dunno how to explain it.

Eden of the East, many thanks to JRM for getting me to start it up and it's just plain amazing. The dub's great, the music is just amazing, so amazing and it's plenty of fun to watch. And there's nothing I like more than people throwing truckloads of cash around.

Valvrave, which is pure dumb fun. It's so damn stupid and the plot twists are just absurd but it's pink bubblegum explosions and creative mecha designs with craptons of lasers and bullets and a cornucopia of badass action and murder just makes it a blast to watch. Also has at least 1 fight per episode and after the first, episodic badass mecha fights where shit explodes.

No probs HK, you've recommended so many animes to me so it's only fair.

I think I might re-watch Durarara! today in a crazy marathon. I also really loved what I saw of the Mysterious Girlfriend X anime and I hope it returns. Also recently (ie, months ago), I watched Sword Art Online, which the first 14 episodes of it were fantastic. The second arc I didn't enjoy as much, but the finale was good since I watched it as the end of the first arc, skipping most of the second one.

As I said, I haven't seen it yet but the manga was good.  Bit of a downer ending though.  I scanned a page from the manga and used an ultra close up of Roberta's face from the manga as an avvy for a while if anyone remembers.

Just started watching Soul Eater, and I have to say I'm loving the backgrounds! Especially the moon

Rewatching

Digimon Seasons v1 and v2 for nostalgia reasons.

Darker than Black because hell and yes.

Desert Punk because its funny and whacky and I know one of you bastards led to em enjoying it. I gotta read the manga sometime.

I tried watching Desert Punk but couldn't get past the almost non stop gonk-ification (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Gonk) in the first episode.

And... I finished Soul Eater. I think I'll start Spice and Wolf next.

Is it better to watch a marathon of the same show, or mix it up and watch several different shows as if it were a tv channel (minus the commercials)?

I prefer watching one til I'm done with it.

In this case, forget any other show and just watch Spice & Wolf.

Not watching it yet but I ordered Roberta's Blood Trail now that it's out on Blu Ray.  Can't wait to watch this.

The first show of the new season, Diabolik Lovers. Without a doubt it's one of the worst pieces of shit I've ever seen, devoid of morals, warmth, compassion, emotion aside from disgust, revulsion, repulsion, hate, so much unbridled, raw hatred for all the douchepires that inhabit this godless heathen show.

Totally rewatched the first episode last night.

Also plowed through, B Gata H Kei and I really enjoyed it.

Infinite Stratos 2

Watched it for Charlotte and Laura and the episode was mostly about them. The writers know their stuff to make it the best episode of the series.

Kill la Kill

Pure awesome. Pure, unbelievable awesome. It's like Gurren Lagann but with kids. The first episode, so unbelievably amazing: Fast, unrelenting speed and action, style, hammy characters, fun and filled with endless energy and it's run by coolness.

I got some anime DVDs cheap at value village, and in relatively good condition. 3 Disc set of FLCL, Ghost in the Shell, and... The End of Evangelion. I've seen FLCL before, and I know it's great, Ghost in the Shell is pretty good save for some hokey writing, but is visually very compelling.

Now Evangelion... I've never had any exposure to it before. I have a friend willing to pay me $35 for it, but I figured I'd make sure it actually worked first. The animation and design are very nice, but everything else is terrible. It's absolutely bloated with allusions to the bible, they went went to every possible length to make all the characters unlikeable, and everything I'm watching is just one big fucking confusing mess. From what I've read, this series is what popularized, or started a lot of the bad tropes in anime. Well at least I know it works so I can sell it.

I loved the original Evangelion series, they did a lot of interesting things, though I have not seen any of the remastered/remade stuff.

This. Holy shit this. Kill la Kill is so ridiculous and fun. I watched the first episode and enjoyed it so much.

I've been rewatching Amagami SS which is still one of my favs (Well, arcs 1,2,4 and sometimes 6).

End of Evangelion is a horrible place to start watching the series. Of course you're going to be confused when it is the movie that wrapped up the original series. Especially with a show as weird as Eva.

I never really had an interest in Evangelion, I was making sure it works because this particular DVD is somewhat rare and I have a friend willing to buy it off me. It's less that I was confused about what I was watching (that's to be expected when starting from the end), it was that it just wasn't very good, none of the characters are likeable, the writing is bad, allusions to religion have been done to death in all forms of media, yet this one just takes it to a whole new level of stupid, thinking they're so deep or whatever... Then it just goes full 2001 at the end.

Just watched the first season of Spice and Wolf. It's alright, I guess. I suppose it was created by someone who seems to hate the Church. I'm not a religious person, but that "church is bad" stuff didn't sit too well with me. Maybe it is supposed to reflect the time of the setting this anime takes place. I don't know; I'm not a religion history buff. Also, some of the business talk confused the hell out if me.

I did enjoy Holo's character design and the banter between her and Lawrence. I will go watch the second season, though.

It's sort of part of the setting, the churchy stuff, it takes place in a medieval-like era, and it's not necessarily "Church is bad", more like the whole thing with the burning of the witches, or something. It's been awhile since I've seen it, but the church stuff didn't really bother me.

Also, from what my friend tells me, the original Evangelion series is supposed to be much better than any of the movies and whatnot that follow, like End of Evangelion. Though apparently the ending of the series is supposed to be pretty bad, which is kind of a staple of animes made by Gainax.

Been watching more Planetes, it's awesome. :0

It's the series that codified the trope "Gainax ending (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GainaxEnding)."

BroCon, or Brothers Conflict. I just love subjecting myself to this kind of tripe. Sure it's terrible, but it's also crap. And it has some nice music.

Alright? More like it's one of the best things ever! You need to change your opinion based on what you thought of it to the norm and what everybody else thinks on how awesome it is. And medieval business is a cutthroat business, the second season's first half would probably confuse you but it's well worth it.
So worth it.

And so yes on the banter! That's half the reason to watch it, the other half being economics.

Currently watching D. Gray-Man on Netflix, but it only has the first two seasons, and I'm nearing the end of the second. Is it just me, or does it have a Fullmetal Alchemist feel to it? Either way, I really like it. (:

Planetes. I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THESE FEELS.

EDIT: Just finished Planetes. New favorite anime, easily one of the best ones I've seen.

Diabolik Lovers, easily the most god-awful shit of the year. Everything about it is wrong.

And still Outbreak Company, I'm still loving it, from all the references to how fun it is.
Infinite Stratos 2, guilty pleasure and very few episodes in it could match the first in being so perfectly sublime.
Man I've got to catch up to Fate/Zero 2, show was god.

Wrapped up Diabolik Lovers, and aside from being the worst vampire thing ever, it's one of the worst anything ever.
Will probably start up Birdy the Mighty Season 2 soon and still catching up on all the crap I'm supposed to be all caught up on.

Rewatching Jormungand. If you like Black Lagoon, watch it, seriously, same producers from Black Lagoon worked on it, so you know it's good. It's about a young arms dealer named Koko, the soldiers who follow under her, with her newest recruit being a child soldier named Jonah. A little something to give you an idea of what to expect.
