Title: [REC] 2 Spoilers
Post by: dudesomebody on March 02, 2010, 06:47:13 pm
I think what I have might be spoilers so...you have been warned.

For those that are interested, here is a trailer for [REC]2
Enjoy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjZkNNfS1x0)

Before you rejoice though, I found this on a site called UHM. I will link it because it is a review of the film.
Review (http://www.upcominghorrormovies.com/review/rec-2-2009)

To sum up, it basically says that the rabies virus is really a demon that has gone viral, I am not sure how I feel about this. Personally I think it ruins the feel of the first movie, it is almost as if they have made a different film and called it a sequel. Well, maybe that isn't a fair analogy but I do think it clashes with the first film more than a little bit. Definitely changes the feel, what are your thoughts??

Hmm.

I don't think it'll be as good as the original, but I'd still watch it.

The demon thing would explain a question I had at the end of .REC though- how that girl survived being locked up in the apartment for so long without dying of starvation.

It might still be a good movie and I will probably still watch it, I just think it is a pretty amazing leap from zombie like virus to demon possesion.

this is more on the line with Brian Keene's Zombie Universe... His Zombies were the results of a Military Experiment that extracted Demon's from the Void and like a Virus infected the Human Host and created... well Zombies... with Intelligences.

And that is all well and good but it kind of seems like they decided to make a different movie in the time between Rec and Rec 2. I still think the idea seems really interesting and if it where a different movie I would be all over it. Just bugs me a little that they went from zombie flick to supernatural demon movie. I will still see it of course, if we get a US release of course.

They're still zombies too me... Just that now it has a supernatural take to it. So add a little Exorcist to Dawn of the Dead, and we have a whole new sub genre
for zombies to come :D

Remember back then when Zombie always use to be a radioactive byproduct of space or nuclear components... and then it hopped onto the
viral mutation genre, and now this.... demonic virus :D  aka Parasyte :D just without mutation to the limbs :D

I guess you are right, can't fault them for trying to get away from the dreaded radiation from space. Like I said before though, it's not the idea it's the fact they seem to have changed genre between films. If it where a totally different film I wouldn't lament the demon/zombie idea...actually that sounds awesome, there is plenty of room for all manner o fucked up there, but it is a sequel that didn't really have this stuff in the first film. They didn't crawl on the ceiling or mimic humans, so why are they doing it now?? I don't mind a movie having weird rules for there zombies, I just need them to be consistent between the first and second film.

I do see your point though, doesn't matter if it is supernatural demon virus or radiation from space, they are still zombies to me...but if they are demon/zombies I want to hear one moan "SOULS", it would make me laugh ;D

On an unrelated note, I miss the spell check :'(
