And I was just playing some Metroid Prime, which was fun, I also started a new game of Prime 2 on the side as well.

I really have to finish Metroid Prime sometime... Probably the only game on a console where I felt comfortable with an FPS-like view scheme.
5057  General Discussion / Game Discussion / Re: Monkey Island 2 Special Edition on: March 13, 2010, 09:33:24 pm
I so need to buy that game... But unsure if my computer can play it.
5058  General Discussion / Game Discussion / Monkey Island 2 Special Edition on: March 13, 2010, 07:15:37 pm
I actually shed some tears when I saw this.
God bless you LucasArts! First Secret of Monkey Island, now Monkey Island 2... Will Sam and Max be next? Surely there is a possibility!

And I guess to be fair, I saw it here first.

Wanted to bring it back (Again) since the first one is now officially lost.
It's considered necromancy, but this time it's for a good cause, right?

Recently Completed: Hotel Dusk: Room 215

System: Nintendo DS

Story: It's been three years since Kyle Hyde has been part of the force in NY. Now as a salesman for Red Crown, he is in search for his partner Brian Bradley, who went missing three years ago after Kyle shot him and then fell into the Hudson without turning up. His employer, Ed, sent him to Hotel Dusk for a job of finding a couple of items (Part of Red Crown's specialty; finding what doesn't want to be found). The hotel's owner, Dunning Smith, tells him about Room 215, nicknamed Wish. Taking lodgings in Room 215, Kyle begins to hunt for the items. Before the night is over, he'll get more than he bargained for.

Time Spent: 15 hours and 15 minutes

The Good:
+ As an adventure game, the story doesn't disappoint. It's more than what it appears and gives the player quite a bit to go through. And really gives the player their money's worth.
+ Amazing cast that doesn't feel one-dimensional. They all have depth and a story to tell.
+ The graphics, especially the character designs. How they look like sketches is absolutely brilliant. And how some scenes look unfinished at the edges or simply blank makes it all the more better.
+ Jazzy music really suits the late 70's time period of when the game takes place.
+ Never used it, but there is a feature for a rumble pack. I assume it's a nice addition.
+ Dialogue feels natural and the style of it is right on.
+ Holding the DS like a book, definitely the way to go.
+ The box doesn't lie when it says "A Mystery Novel".
+/- It's an adventure game, so it feels laid back.
+/- A whole lot of dialogue, and can be wordy at times. But then again, it is an adventure game.
+/- If you somehow mess up and end up at a game over screen, the game tells you what you did wrong. Kinda a bummer if the player wants to figure out how they messed up on their own.
+ A summary of each chapter that is completed is provided, which is perfect in a game like this.
+/- Once a chapter is finished, there is a recap and some questions of what happened in it. A real nice touch for those who might have forgotten a few things but for others might feel like a waste of time.

The Bad:
- Some puzzles can be tricky and a pain to figure out.
- Not much non-story related stuff or side-quest like things in the game.
- Quite unfortunate that there isn't a feature early on that lets you replay the music.

Score: 8.5/10. This is without a doubt one of the best stories one can get in a game on the DS. It's also among the top of the DS adventure gaming crop, with the essentials of a good adventure game: an amazing story, cast of characters and setting. Can't get much better than this in terms of adventure.

Better Than: Most other DS Adventure games.

Blazed through two missions of P.N.03, Professional and Rookie.
Missed how stylish it was and how easy it was to get into the groove of it.
Also NBA Street V3, pretty good but kinda prefer Vol.2 a bit more. But have to give it bonus points for having House of Pain.

Been playing quite a bit of Animal Crossing: WW; So much fruit to sell, trees to cut down, weeds to pull, fish to catch...

And Rome: Total War, finally finished a Short Campaign as the House of Julii.
Thinking of a more Calvary oriented civilization for my next run.

AP: A day of CounterStrike, Munchkin and other card games.
5063  General Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Words on paper in this technological world, reading anything? on: March 11, 2010, 02:51:23 pm
Black Lagoon! That was all I understood, having never played or read anything Halo.
If those count... Surely I read that wrong and you made an edit that hasn't yet taken effect yet...
Have been meaning to read it sometime, along with the other few dozen manga on my to-read list.

AP:I am officially a licensed driver. Yes, I have been driving around without one for quite a while now. Want to fight about it?
That's okay, I'm known for drawing every damn monster card in the entire deck within the first six turns, and then somehow coming from behind and winning anyway. Usually by fucking everyone else over.

I think you transferred a bit of it to me somehow (Only the bad part of it though), as I had a round where I only drew level 19-20 Monsters and got my ass kicked repeatedly.

Wish I had that kind of skill... Turning it around like the English did in Agincourt.
Definitely wish I had that ability. The closest I got was with a total of +15 bonus to a monster (+10 with a friend's card), but we were never able to use it.

When I played Munchkin with my friends I managed to keep the very same level one throughout the whole game. I have this habit of losing every single game I play. But it was a lot of laughs. Cheesy

The same thing happened today except it was level 2. I lost my stolen steed to theft and got another one just to lose it the next turn in a desperate bid for survival. That steed was my only friend... That mutant rat thing of +3 bonus... And the only thing that kept me alive.

I'll bring the snacks and some loaded die!
But I should warn you, I am notorious for not drawing monster cards. I lost a game where I gained a single level and then lost it and never fought a monster after that level gain.

I hesitate to ask what Munchkin is, but I feel as if I should.

It includes backstabbing, looting, killing, epic loot, Gods with machine guns and the ability to have flying wolf steeds who breath fire with a half orc, half gnome thief riding them with a whip and a hot elf hireling.

It's as awesome as evil is fun.
5066  General Discussion / General Discussion / Re: The Anti-Peeve rides again! on: March 10, 2010, 02:36:43 pm
Not really, or not enough to make it worthwhile. If I do, then I would be cutting down my game-time.
Curse my human-esque selfishness...

AP: Munchkin, now my favorite way to spend lunch.

Finished Hotel Dusk and kinda at a loss on what to play next for my DS.
Very few games that don't need the L/R Trigger to play these days...

On a break already? Wish we were where I am... Officially at least.
Can totally understand the lack of funds part, but hope to not have bills to worry about for a while.
As long as you make it as perfect as can be, then I can wait. And for it to be as epic as possible.
5069  General Discussion / General Discussion / Re: The Anti-Peeve rides again! on: March 10, 2010, 05:34:44 am
Its called "I bust my ass off at work so im treating myself to a new goddamn game!"

Fortunately, as a student who needs to study to do well, I am somewhat exempt from that.

You might want to change her history. The Old Caroon Mines haven't been inhabited by humans for quite some time. Yes, there are townsfolk there, but they are not human. And they can barely survive out of their own atmosphere since the gases on the mines changed how they are able to get oxygen into their system. c:

And I'm still working on getting this going again. My muse went one day and I went the other direction. Now I have to wait for us to cross paths again.

While you wait for that quest to become available, why not restart another RP?

And I really hope it wouldn't like the same deal with Bradley, Kyle Hyde.
