Silent Hill 2 -- Radio white noise is steadily increasing but I can't see anything but a parked car and an empty street. I'm armed with nothing but a nail bat and a pair of white knuckles (both in game and IRL), the noise gets louder but I still can't see anything coming for me. Next thing I know, I take one step and one of those nasty guys whose upper torso is all wrapped up comes crawling out from under the car at warp speed. Oh my shit... I lost it.

General Discussion / Game Discussion / Getting Gamers Connected - Xlink Kai

Just wanted to prod the community and see if anyone else is using Xlink Kai (successfully) to play their PSP/X-box. I'm still having trouble getting mine going.
Xlink Kai, for those that don't know, is a good alternative to playing online without an X-box Live subscription or a PS3 for Ad-Hoc Party support for PSP.

I don't know... I just can't stand the new look, he looks too much like an addict. I am really enamored with the old Dante, I hope they just don't butcher the series as they try to "westernize" it. If anything this is one franchise that doesn't need an overhaul IMO. I open to it and I'm willing to accept the new look if it doesn't completely change the character... but I still really like the old one better.
EDIT: He does say in the trailer that his name is Dante, which scares me but like I said... we'll see how it pans out.

Alright I'm double posting I know... I'm really sorry... but I need to rant about how the Devil May Cry coming out.
It's being made by Ninja Theory (Heavenly Sword, Enslaved) and they've turned Dante into a skinny methhead with super powers and...pause for effect... black hair. Check out the new trailer or whereever TGS is being covered, but be warned if you are a fan of the series... you may lose your stiffie over it.

Vindictus is arriving soon. It's in Mabinogi universe, free-to-play... but it actually looks good. It utilizes the Source engine and has a hack-n-slash Monster Hunter feel to it. I said "wowsers" when I saw gameplay of a character plant a guy in the wall with his boot and he stayed there... epic.
If anyone is in the open beta and has an extra key, hook up a fellow zombie hunter please?
No but seriously, please PM me if you have an extra key and have nothing better to do with it.... yes I am begging.

I've read one book on the WH: 40k universe and that was about the battle sisters, awesome story. I don't think I'd ever get into the table top playing because I'm to far along to invest my time in something as awesome as this universe (I stick with the Dawn of War series, and soon to be released Space Marine for current-gen consoles, looks like it will be following guy from Ultra Marines). Anywho, I'd like to know what a good starting block is for fictional reading in the universe if anyone could point me to it. Thanks!

Not quite a Roguelike but just as ineffably frustrating with a fair amount of one-way-street-with-no-u-turns decisions to be made... and it's on the PS3! Demon's Soul's by Atlus; one of the most, if not, the most frustrating game I've ever played. It's incredibly hard with a steep learning curve (Hell... the introduction to the game is you getting slaughtered by a mini-boss unless you have epic skills, which no one does when they pop the disk in).
The choice between craftings spells OR weapons with a boss soul is tantalizing contrived unless you're perusing GameFAQ's at the same time while playing. And you can play through a second time, but you had better have built your character correctly otherwise you'll end up with a nerfed brick who can no longer effectively play because the difficulty has been ramped up ten-fold. *MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD*
What makes it like a Rougelike? Demon Souls are your only unit of currency... and there's no bank to store them in. Items, weapons, spells, armor, stats, you can't get it/upgrade it unless you have demon souls and you have to carry it on your person. If you die before you buy what you want, all your souls get dropped in a blood spatter and you are removed to the meeting area of the game. Then, you have to go and try to reclaim those souls that you've worked countless hours for... oh but if you die enroute and don't touch your previous blood stain you lose them all forever. Fun fact: if you kill the blacksmith that is able to create magical weapons for you... he's gone for good. Same with the store operator, the priest that teaches you blessings, the wizard(s) that teach you spells, and everyone else. Fun-ner Fact: There is a character that you save in one of the levels that, if you let exist in the safe area for too long, ends up killing people one by one, including the guy that holds on to your extra equipment... if he gets offed, all your stuff disappears. Good luck out there!!
Best part, other people can play with you online! Either you can summon them to your realm and help you vanquish evil or they invade your world in order to kill you so they can regain their human form without wasting a valuable item.
Then there's world tendency shifting from bright to black and items only accesible if you meet certain conditions.... crazy hard, kinda fun, give it a shot.

I have to say that since reading this thread, I've become infactuated with this and desperately want to delve into NetHack once I get past the learning {POWER} curve. I feel bad because I posted this on another thread that wasn't in the best context but I'll put it here so that it will have a proper home. I figured I'd share a relatively new one out there entitled Rouge Survivor http://roguesurvivor.blogspot.com/. Guess what the situation is... ZMOG surviving in an undead world!! Does anyone know where I can get a NetHack GUI for the Win32 edition that has the same interface as the MAC version? I'd like the bigger stats and a few colorful pictures for windows without going full blown Vulture's Eye or something crazy like that. Thanks!

Looking out for Dead Rising 2, and AC2: Brotherhood. The multiplayer in AC2 looks absolutely hilarious and fun, they really try to harp on being able to blend in with the crowd to hunt down your (human) opponent. If you've ever played "The Ship" on Steam it's like that (A hunts B, B hunts C, C hunts A) except made my Ubisoft and it has a much brighter future. Check it out on GameTrailers.com or any other site that covered it.

Always playing: Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite Final Fantasy Dissidia Mount and Blade
Just started playing again: Final Fantasy Tactics - one of the best games of all time IMO MW2 Multiplayer - if anyone is looking to finish up co-op so am I! Steam Handle: Rhybo

SNES Doom Troopers - For old school M rated fun Monopoly - Awesome party game, no cheating bankers! Nobonaga's (sp?) Revenge - Old school strategy RTS in feudal Japan King of the Monsters 2 - what Godzilla games should have been
BTW, I know it's already been said, but Kirby Superstars: 8 Games in One is outstanding and Super Mario RPG is ineffable (which I thank the Nintendo gods that I still own)
NES Super Dodge Ball - the only game you'll ever need, just came out in the Wii Arcade I believe Serpents and Sorcerers - REAL old school dungeon crawling with location based damage and spells! Battletoads - soo hard Spy Hunter - gadgets, shooting, and driving Fatal Final Fight - kinda like chibi final fight but still epic
Oh gosh... nostalgia...
