16  General Discussion / General Discussion / Re: PP: Not having a Pet Peeves thread. on: September 05, 2013, 01:07:13 pm
PP : Fecking Android. Tried to tune my sister's phone which was in sheer agony, only to make it worse. Sure, the poor thing was already running like crap, but now there is hardly any word to even begin to describe how slow and buggy it is (maybe a fusion of an episode of Derrick with an ant nest ?)

PP2 : Seriously worried about the state of politics (more like polidicks) in my country. Abolishment of minimum sentences, all-time low popularity for two presidents in a row, unfavorable revisions for the working class, still no punishement for HADOPI enforcers who "just happened" to host infantile pornography... The whole political circus becomes more and more tedious, and most of them look and talk like there's absolutely no light upstairs...

(click to show/hide)

PP3 : The previous tenant left the apartment I'm taking in an horrible state. Like very, very disgusting. I wonder how the hell the estate agency let that one slip and how the hell he managed to trash it that much between the two weeks between my first visit and when I took the apartment. I knew that it was an old apartment, that I had some things to fix (mostly painting), but it didn't bother me then since it was in an a-ok state when I visited it. Nothing broken, but most of the surface is in an "EEEEEEWWWWW" state.

AP : Final presentation for Internship is done, which means... holidays 'till I sign my contract !!!!  Afro
18  General Discussion / Game Discussion / Re: What are you playing? Episode 2: Sequel Reloaded! on: September 01, 2013, 08:38:31 am
With the end of my internship starts a new era in gaming !!! (well, until my contract)

In no particular order :
  • XCOM : The Bureau. For now I only am in the begining, looks nice, I like the feel of combat.
  • Almost beaten Fist Puncher co-op with a friend. Nice little game, but with its flaws (like they totally messed up the depth xD)
  • Aion, reconnected after a while to see that my guild was still alive and kickin' Cheesy

New X-com expansion is announced for Enemy Unkown.
End-game contents it seems ?

Right now, playing Dishonored : The Knife of Dunwall. I really enjoyed Dishonored, but I wasn't looking forward to play Daud (not really a charismatic person). I finally caved in and tried the DLC, it seems to be a nice expansion of the Dishonored world Smiley

So if you and a friend decide you both want a book you can split the cost by ordering together.
Or if I decide to order book 1 and 2... MUHAHAHAH  Evil

More seriously, thanks for your answer, I'll keep that in mind Smiley
21  General Discussion / Movies/TV Discussion / Re: What Are You Currently Watching II: You Only Watch Twice on: August 10, 2013, 02:13:43 pm
Not really up to watch anything serious on this moment so I'll keep rewatching silly stuff, juggling with Lineham series : Father Ted and The IT Crowd (well, I can't go wrong with these two ! Smiley) with a dash of random internet videos.

After this I'll be running him through some of the UGC campaigns.  A few really promising looking ones are coming out already including "Unlimited" which is very open world and has randomly generated runs.  The UGC should keep me satisfied until the Berlin campaign comes out.  (Free DLC ftw!)
Thanks for the references, I'll check this campaigns and keep Berlin under my radar Smiley

And speaking of nostalgia, I picked up the Quake collection when it was on sale last weekend because I never owned a legal copy of Q2 or Q3 on PC and I have no idea what happened to my Q1 disc.  Graphically it's a bit harsh going back to these but people are still cranking out mods and high definition texture packs so I need to get my hands on those Cheesy  I seriously cannot keep track of how many hours of my life I spent playing Q1 and Q2.
Q3 Arena has not that bad graphics ! We still played it a lot with my former flatmates, tons of fun Smiley

AP : Went to Andorra today. Result, for 30 : 1L of good vodka, a bottle of good tequila and, the last but not the least, 1L of Southern Comfort. Since Southern Comfort is quite hard to come by in France (except in special liquor retailer where it would be very, very expensive) I was quite happy. Smiley

Tablets were very cheap also but I'm waiting to have the use for it (maybe as a work device, to project slides, read courses/publis, ...), so I bought mainly alcohol and necessities (food, soap, ...), I'm quite sad not to have bought a tablet but I didn't really did any research on tablets so I did not wanted to do an impulse buy and regret it later. Maybe do some research on it then do a quick Andorra run with a friend before my internship finishes.

Finished Peer Gynt. Some great moments, but too caricatural in my taste.

Finished the main campaign of Shadowrun Returns (human Rigger)... I found the gameplay great, good ambiance, good OST (when I heard that one in combat I almost shitted my pants out of awesomeness, but the campaign itself felt too... linear. I really felt that whatever I could say or do, it didn't affected at all the outcome, which is a bit of a letdown, not like Shadowrun, where I expected to make a bit of grey-area choices.

Anyways, the game system is great, and I do really hope to see epic campaigns available soon Smiley

Thanks for the feedback on first book, it was an interesting post and we are all glad you decided to continue Smiley

I just have one question on the book 2 kickstarter : will you do overseas shipping ?

I'm reading Neuromancer FINALLY because I got a copy for $0.75 at Goodwill and it is amazing! I'm also re-reading the entire Wheel of Time series since the last book finally came out. I'm halfway done with Book Seven now.
As much good I have heard from it (hey, it's on of the founding book of freaking Cyberpunk Smiley), I couldn't really get into it and dropped after a few chapters to start it later, which I sadly never did (for now !). I find it a difficult read (strange to say), and I think that translation has especially made it way worse than it was (read the first chapter in French, then in English, way better in English). I hesitate whether muster the courage to read it in French or acquire an English copy.
28  General Discussion / Movies/TV Discussion / Re: Latest Movie You've Seen on: July 22, 2013, 01:38:31 pm
Le Caire : Nid d'Espions (Cairo : Spy Nest Huh? Don't know if the movie was ever released outside of France), the humor is very particular, but I enjoyed it much ! (glad I could watch it in outdoors showing Cheesy)
But I think that you must be French to laugh at some of the jokes. Anyways, a great movie to see !

Playing Sins of a Solar Empire : Rebellion now, bought the DLC for steam summer sales. As much I love the game, the DLC was kinda "meh". At least it gave me an excuse to bring out again my Advent Loyalists Smiley

Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition. It was a series that I followed through my childhood (damn, I remember going to my cousin's to play Mortal Kombat 2, but since we were kids we failed all fatalities xD). The last that I played was Deadly Alliance. So I picked up this one saying "Hey, what are they up to now ?". All I have to say now is : holy crap, this is the real stuff, they got everthing right !
Fluid combats Kombats, neat gameplay... wow. This one is going to be a game night favorite for sure Smiley
