Does this mean you have books available? *Hopeful*

Yep! We have them available Smiley

We are still hearing from folks whose preorders or regular orders didn't arrive- if you ordered a book and it never got there, drop me a line at my email address, and I'll send a replacement. I've tried to make sure that everyone who has sent me an email got a replacement, but there were something like 200 that may have got lost/damaged/etc. so I'm sure I've missed a few Sad

The joys of discovering that your shipping packages ain't all that, I tell ya... We use better packages, now. Stronger packages. Tougher... they are EENVEENCIBLLLLE. We hope, anyway.

awwwwwwwwwwww! That is awesome. Do you just like the name, or did you name him from the comic?

For what little it's worth, the issue doesn't seem to show up in our error logs.

I'm trying to figure out a good test plan for this. I may have to set up a test page and then ask you to try it out, to see if we can maybe get some debugging information. Ideally, I'd like to narrow down what script is causing this issue.

Weird...

We are hosted by the same company that hosts schlock mercenary (unless they've since moved). But I don't have any idea who hosts notalwaysright.

Now, our advertising is set up to load only after all of the other content has loaded. Does the page hang after the comic shows up, but before the ads? Or does it completely lock up once everything's loaded, and you can't go to the next page?

hey gang! Go check this out while I update the newspost Cheesy

It was SUPPOSED to go up with the comic, but I guess the comic went early... I wonder who could've done that? Wink

It's definitely worth looking into it. Sorry I haven't been around the forums much lately, either.

I updated some of our ad serving code a few days ago- probably after you posted this. Can you tell me if it's still causing a problem?

PP:  Another work week...  I am so not ready for this.

this...

The signing was great- it was cool to hang with the guys who drove like two or three hours to be there. But these past week was non-stop car repairs, bills-bills-bills, migraine!... bodies-bodies-bodies, scrape Jenny off the floor, bodies-bodies-bodies, scrape Jenny off the floor!... find promo cards, printer is kaboom, find a new supplier, get the cards made, Jenny has the plague, check the car because something ELSE is wrong...

I need a slower-tempo week just to catch up with all the orders that need to go out. Preferably one where the car doesn't break something.

AP: The community here. You guys are really awesome, and I'm honestly proud to be part of something like TZH that has attracted so many great people to one place. I lurk more often than not, but it's great to see how everyone gets along here.

72  TZH Discussion / TZH Discussion / Re: Summer Merchandise on: October 03, 2011, 02:53:13 pm
Sorry, man. Because we canceled production, the folks who bought the shirt got their money refunded. One of the three customers was lucky enough to get the prototype, but that was it. We wish we could've gone full-scale, but the interest just wasn't there.

EDIT: PATCHES HERE! REALLY FOR REALS! THEY LOOK AWESOME! WITH THE RIGHT COLORS AND EVERYTHING!

It has taken something like 6 or 7 different runs from various suppliers but we HAVE THEM!
73  TZH Discussion / TZH Discussion / Re: Summer Merchandise on: October 03, 2011, 10:22:57 am
We ran polls on different types of merchandise, and people really liked a couple of shirt designs- Not Pants, and the "I punched a zombie in the face..." shirt. Unfortunately, we were unable to get the 'punched' shirt design made in a satisfactory manner, and the Not Pants shirt didn't sell at all when we introduced it to the store. There were a grand total of three sales, so we wound up pulling it- it just wasn't economical to manufacture at that point.

None of our suppliers could provide ladies' cut shirts for anything approaching a reasonable price, unless our order volume was in the hundreds of units, and our audience just doesn't support that. It's a real shame, because I know the female members of the audience would appreciate some better-fitting shirts, but we just can't sell anything like that number.

The Zombie Zodiac prints went about the same way- lots of positive feedback, but few actual sales. So Jenny has discontinued that series for now. You've got to figure; making a print design can take Jenny up to 20 hours, so if only 5 people buy it, at $8.40, then she made $42 for 20 hours of work, which comes out to $2.05 per hour. We've still got them in the store, though- we already produced them so we'll hope that they can sell over time.

The knives didn't get enough positive feedback to make; the cost of production was so high that the price probably scared off any actual customers.

That pretty much leaves the patches. We found a great new supplier for the patches, so we've gotten in a new shipment of Infected patches that are doing well. The curse of the Red Halo patch continues, though- continued production difficulties have pushed their delivery date to the 11th of October, and then we'll need to see if they actually look good, before we put them in the store. Even the supplier that has done so well with the Infected logo is having difficulties with that one. Our hopes are high, but we'll see if they can make the date. Cancel that! Just got word that this batch arrived early, and they are BEAUTIFUL. They're up in the store now- check these babies out!

As always we're still trying to develop and produce new items that people will enjoy having and want to own. Unfortunately, that development and prototyping cycle takes time and money, so we have to balance the losses from ones that do poorly against the gains from products that do well.

Currently we're working on the development of a pdf version of the book, which will have some unique artwork that is different from the print volume. And, of course, we're still trying to get the Red Halo patches to come out. We JUST got the patches done!

As we produce and test more things, we'll keep everyone posted through announcements under the comic. Today's post was actually going to be an announcement about the Red Halo patches, but the last batch came out wrong so- as I said above- that got pushed another few weeks.
74  Forum Community / News / new advertising service on: September 28, 2011, 02:19:03 pm
Hey gang, after more complaints came through about expanding ads and ads that make noise, we've dropped the advertiser responsible. I replaced the ad spots with a new company, so please watch closely over the next few days and make sure to let us know if you see any ads that expand beyond their frame or play sounds, or are otherwise annoying. We really want to keep TZH nice and friendly to the readers!

If you see an ad that you don't like, make sure you tell me where it was on the site- that lets me know which advertiser was responsible. A screenshot can also be great to help me document the problem and take care of it.

You may want to look into the Proactiv line of products- it works well for some people I know who have bad acne. They have a couple of variants with salyclic(sp) acid and some with benzoyl peroxide. It seems like a good choice unless you want to go all the way to the nuclear option, and rearrange your body with Accutane.
