1  General Discussion / Game Discussion / Re: What are you playing? Episode 2: Sequel Reloaded! on: June 25, 2015, 07:59:49 pm
I spent pretty much all day yesterday playing the first three chapters of "Life is Strange" which ended at a horrible cliffhanger.  I can't wait until the next chapter comes out to find out what happens next.

FUCKIN'-A, I KNOW. It's killing me. I think episode 4 is out in July, though, so the wait won't be that much longer. I really hope DONTNOD makes more games like this. Honestly, I've been enjoying Life is Strange far more than any of TellTale's recent offerings.

Keep trust low. The more non-friends, the easier it is. Also try setting your clock forward a day and reloading to see if the mission pops up. AND make sure non of your gravely injured/ill people are away from home. If they are, check in and send them back. Every so often the mission will pop up when they return. Took me about an hour of moving the clock forward and keeping all the non-friends in shitty shape to finally get it.

Yeah, definitely make sure it goes on sale first. When I got it, it was about $30 on Steam. I mean, it's a good game, but $30 for something you've pretty much already played is pretty steep. Though of course with mods it becomes a whole new game, so that's up to you, haha.

Have you looked into the Year One survival edition on Steam/XBOne? It's pretty nifty. It got some (admittedly somewhat deserved) flak for being a prettied up version of the original game, but it's got some good features. My favorite is the addition of the knife. Instead of your unarmed melee attack being that dopey kick, you grab the nearest zed and just start stabbing them like something out of a slasher flick. Not efficient, but it's pretty satisfying when all you have to deal with are single enemies.

I actually hit up the liquor store the other day and have been making Guinness bombs at home now >>

AP: Actually went out and had some drinks with new friends for the first time in ages. Also discovered the glory of Guinness, Jameson, and Bailey's.

AP: My boss walked past me the other day and just REEKED of cigarettes. I then realized "Holy shit, I can actually smell cigarette smoke now and I don't smell like that anymore."

Related PP: Willing to bet that in ten years they'll be saying ecigs are even worse than real cigarettes. At least I don't smell like smoke anymore.

Yeah, I've got Breakdown and Lifeline. Felt like just playing the vanilla game recently though. I like Lifeline, though I can't seem to go through a siege without at least one person dying, which is a tad annoying.

As for bringing guns with, even my melee specialists always go out with a gun and 30 rounds of ammunition. Not doing so is just asking for trouble.

Had that problem with Sasquatch for the longest time. He suffered a major injury during a mission and for some reason just would not get better despite having a doctor, medical tent, and plenty of meds. I had to reload a lot because he kept dying during sieges and my "Save everyone or you've failed" mindset wouldn't allow me to just move on. Explosives are handy for injured comrades and civilians. If they get swarmed, toss a pipe bomb and clean out any stragglers. Thank goodness for no friendly fire.

PP: My cohort got caught in a fireball and died horribly.

Rest in Peace, Omid. You're dancing with Sarenrae now.

Replaying State Of Decay for the billionth time at the moment. Assault rifles have got one hell of a lot more useful since the last expansion.

Have you played the Lifeline expansion? I rarely, if ever, used guns before I got Lifeline, but my experiences in Danforth have resulted in me always carrying one when scavenging.

Felt like I needed to share this.

Just finished TWD Season 2. The ending definitely didn't pack as big a punch a season 1, but it was still pretty solid. I'm looking forward to season 3.

That just means you're human, Cheez. I feel like anyone who didn't at LEAST feel a little tug in their chest just has no heart.

Anyway, currently playing Wayward Souls. It's a fun little dungeon crawl game on iPad that has been keeping me occupied. I was a little hesitant since it wasn't a free app, but I've been pleased with it so far. It's HARD though. Either that or I just suck at it.

AP: Kind of minor, but it made me smile. I play a bard in my friend's Pathfinder campaign, and through a series of really good performance checks made a few months back, she became a popular singer and celebrity in the country. Last night, we finally wrapped up a long, grueling story arc that required us to get help from another adventuring party and a small army. After all was said and done, we had a huge victory celebration and GM Bro asked us what we planned on doing during the festivities.

Like Corianthe wasn't going to perform.

The entire party came together to make the show a hit. Corianthe sang and played guitar, her cohort, also a bard, was her backup dancer, the rogue did various acrobatics, the ranger and paladin served as security, and the casters used their spells for lighting and special effects, as well as a few uses of ghost sound for backing vocals and instrumental parts. My initial performance roll met the DC for a great performance, but all of the assistance bumped it up enough to exceed the DC for an extraordinary performance. More people will be talking about Corianthe the Nightingale putting on an unforgettable show than our defeat of the evil guild that was kidnapping, enslaving, slaughtering, and experimenting on people.

I fucking love playing bards.
