AP2: Got myself a signed Korpiklaani CD.
WANT!

I was so pissed off when my job required me to work overtime and I had to give my tickets to a show last year with not only Korpiklaani but also Finntroll.  Because they don't exactly tour the America Midwest on a regular basis you know?  The epic disapointment was only made worse by my friend who I gave the tickets to describing the show as only "Ok."

PP: My job today.

I once described my job on a bad day to a friend as being like, "Slamming my head against a brick wall all day long."  But today I realized that isn't strictly true.  If I WERE slamming my head against a brick wall I would eventually pass out and thus the pain would stop for a while.  So really my job is worse...

I'm just like that for my games. Apart from the GBA nowadays, as the R-Trigger's on the fritz again.
But I still bought Drill Dozer.

AP: Atlus, the shit they add to their pre-orders is amazing. For EO III, they weren't content with simply a 60 page art book entitled Forests of Eternity, but now an Explorer's Poster.

Just had to mention it again.

AP:  THIS  laugh

Speaking of Atlus I apparently impressed the register biscuit at GameStop when I picked up Dark Spire at GameStop.  When he saw I buying Dark Spire he mentioned EO III was coming out soon and I said, "yea, I'm actually here to pre-order it."  He did the Atlus fanboy freakout to the extent that I wondered if he was secretly HK-47.  In fact I still wonder...

Except I totally picture HK going everywhere with a gold plated pimp cane/shotgun like from Saints Row 2.

Squishy Wizard is just a general term I've used since my pen and papaer D n D days, which is basically a stereotype for any fragile magic user.  And this one is EXTRA squishy... 4 starting hit points?  Bleh...

And yea, I initially started with the aggressive formation because no one had ranged weapons but my dwarf is the only one who can actually take a hit so I swapped over to heroic.  But since my thief has no ranged weapon or spells he's sort of just taking up space right now.  I'll post my new stats when I get home.

Scrapped my Dark Spire game and started over (I was less than two hours in so it wasn't a big deal.  But it took forever for me to roll a halfling with 11+ Str.)  I'll post my new starting stats if anyone is interested, same races/classes as before.

Despite the fact I haven't gotten far in yet I'm really digging this game.  The old school graphics with 8-bit soundtrack are nice and even the "modern" graphics aren't "too modern."  This is good old fashioned dungeon crawling fun and it REALLY reminds me of the old Bards Tale and Wizardry games.  Squishy wizard is hard to keep alive right now, he needs to learn better spells...

Made two of my characters human, with an Elf mage and a warrior Dwarf:

Thief Human ST 11 IN 14 VT 14 DX 14 CH 9

Warrior Dwarf ST 16 IN 13 VT 15 DX 22 CH 9

Elf Mage ST 12 IN 15 VT 12 DX 15 CH 14

Human Priest ST 14 IN 14 VT 13 DX 12 CH 11

I used a guide at some parts (When you get a few certain quests, you're going to love it Tongue) including the prerequisite stats for the secondary classes, so I made sure to have my characters have 11 or above in all stats but Charisma.
Hmm, sounds like I might want to start over.

AP:  Got tons of books for a buck each on last chance clearance at Borders... but now after reading Maxwells AP it doesn't seem as cool.

Finally! Best pre-order you could make!
And it's a shame that Izuna wasn't there.
But The Dark Spire! YES! SWEET JESUS ON A RAPTOR YES!
That price? Complete? I seriously have to go to Gamestop (EB Games in Canada) more often.

Just curious but what are your starting stats for your characters?
Thief Halfling  ST 10  IN 10  VT  10  DX 16  CH 8

Warrior Dwarf  ST  14  IN  10  VT  13  DX  9  CH  13

w00t!!!

I went into GameStop today to finally preorder Etrian Odyssey 3 and LA Noir (both of which I did) and while I was there searching for Izuna 1 (which I didn't find) I found a copy of The Dark Spire, used, in the box with the manual for 4.99!

Going to play it now!!!

That's pretty manly... but not as manly as beating Shiren the Wanderer, without EVER setting foot into a storeroom! (Which I've been told has been done.)
2429  General Discussion / Game Discussion / Re: RogueLikes... on: August 14, 2010, 11:14:12 am
It varies.  I melded a hide shield with an armorward and it made a lighter armorward, sadly experimenting seems to be the only way to really figure it out.
