Bye Bye beautiful - Nightwish.

It's refreshing to see a band give a hearty FUCK YOU! to their fired ex lead singer and the all female doppleganger band is easy on the eyes.  I would link to the you tube vid but I'm way too drunk right now.

Congrats HK.  I had never really bothered carting an Air Slayer around, apparently I should have?  If I ever get a couple days off in a row again so I can concentrate on it I have to play Shiren again...

Borchardt C-93

It predated the Luger by about a decade.

For influence, sheer badassery and staying power there can be none other than Motorhead.

Can someone else think of a question?  I'm stuck thinking about how awesome Motorhead is.

It's not a 1911, it's a 1908.  I actually had a post about the very gun in question here... http://www.thezombiehunters.com/forum/index.php?topic=534.msg58805;topicseen#msg58805

And yes, RDR is fucking awesome.

I also got a Staff of Stability from a Jar of Change, to add to my unfair luck.
That second Melding Jar was at a heavy cost, the third was pure luck right before the final storehouse and the fourth I couldn't afford and had to be content with my other two.
Two Jars of Blastwave Scrolls + Ravine of Illusions = Ownage. Wish I thought of that earlier and prepped for that. But why not use one of your small amount of rescues? Would have been glad to help.
But I had that happen, even though it was more of a dumbass mistake. Accidentally threw a jar that had nearly 60 Wooden arrows, a Dragon Herb and probably a Scroll of Need (Have a half-dozen of those babies) inside a full storehouse.
Man, totally got to make more space for Blastwave Scrolls, have a few in Canyon Hamlet that I never used. But to make up for it, have a Jar of Holding [5] full of Dragon Herbs.

I use Herbs mostly as a last resort and try and keep only Restorative Herbs on hand as I usually have a Chiropractic Jar or two on hand. If my inventory is full, I usually either eat one of the Herbs or put one in a Jar of Change. Haven't thought of putting them into Jars and storing them for the final run for that HP boost though.

Edit: Old Cedar Road 1 and found a Walrus Shield. Only other time I've seen it was in Fay's Puzzles (Which are kinda addictive).
I pretty much only heal with Chiropractic Jars and the Chiropractor dude who follows you around.  Just a personal preference.

Ain't no rest for the wicked - Cage the Elephant

This has been my defacto theme song for the last two weeks and probably will continue to be so until this new project I've been assigned to is over.  80-100 hour weeks as far as the eye can see.... GAH!!!!!!

Shiren, found a Melding Jar [4] before the final storehouse and left it there, and then trudged on to reach the Dragoncry Trials to die a manly death, at the hands of a Death Angel.
No way of escape, horribly underlevelled (Level 24) and even with a Staff of Paralysis and a Staff of Postpone (Both in a Jar of Change, and I was running for my life in the last floor), I'm dead.

But the Armband of Sight was invaluable, being able to see the location of all enemies and items (But all enemies... gorgeous) is the absolute best. And the Armband of Happiness with that extra EXP each turn is pretty sweet as well.

At times like this, I can truly appreciate how important item management is.

That was glorious... so glorious...
You shall soon surpass me, the Dragoncry trials are the farthest I've made it.  And how do you keep finding these melding jars man?  It's not fair...  I'm still pissed off at my loss of two jars full of blastwave scrolls, it's taking forever for me to stockpile them again, and I can't find another staff of stability...  Stupid Dark Spire preventing me from playing Shiren...

EDIT:  Though interestingly enough the run where I reached the Dragoncry trials I didn't use any items from my storehouses except a large riceball, in fact I stashed a few weapons for later use on that run.  I was getting crazy good drops and got so pumped I rushed ahead instead of grinding to get some more levels in.  Question for you.  Do you actually use herbs for healing or do you just eat them when you're already healthy so you can add HP?  I always use them to bump up my max HP.

Yea, the Doom one is really good and like any true Roguelike it will make you break down into fits of rage and weeping.
2425  General Discussion / Game Discussion / Re: RogueLikes... on: August 19, 2010, 05:01:06 pm
Amadeus is fundamentally correct.  Roguelikes are typified by the following key characteristics.

Death is final. (saves vanish, you're toast, you're done, equipment is gone, it's time to roll a new character.)
Levels are randomly generated.
Items are normally have to be identified to understand their full use (you have a sword in your inventory, it's really a cursed sword, or maybe it's the best sword that ever existed.  You just don't know.)
Movement/combat/item use is all turn based.
Normally you are on your own, if you have a party member you can't directly control them, they just tag along.

To make it easier for people to get interested in this brutally difficult genre many games have Roguelite features such as...
Being able to stash items that persist past your death
Starting over but retaining some (or all) of your exp past death
Having party members that you can switch places with or control.

My advice?  Start with Nethack... bwahahahaha!!!!!!  BWAHAHAHA!!!! Yes, start with Nethack... it's free, the first one is always free... hehehe... *twitches*

I keep meaning to check out Anime Planet but I'm fundamentally lazy.

No, but we have cookies.

Would you like a cookie?

(Shiren) Oh shit... a Melding Jar [3] at the Jar Shop!
Either I can sell some stuff and hope it's enough (The shop is kinda small, and most of my belongings are for the final trip) or try and steal it and die in the process.
Only two ways about this.

Used a change jar and going to get a sexy Razor Wind out of it.
Still in the town though.

Third Edit, went to the previous area and after nearly starving, went back to the shop and it's now a Melding Jar [5].
7500G and I only have 2476G, but it got me drooling.

So far I've yet to survive a steal attempt.  If it wasn't for Izuna and Dark Spire I'd probably be playing Shiren more. Good luck on your run.  *tips hat to fellow wanderer.*   Some day we'll meet on the Plains of the Sun.
