Hmm... How does it work? Just "I punch you in the dick." "Yep, that happens." or what?
You have an energy pool that you split between your various powers and defense. Every 'page' all the power you spent (you don't have to spend all of it) goes away, and you regen a certain amount (decided by either your int, or your durability). Everything happens nominally at once. Basicly...everyone allocates their energy. Then everyone declares their actions/attacks. Then people can reallocate energy (limited to whatever they allocated the first time around). Finally, damage is dealt/actions happen. If you're doing things that are order-sensitive (say...someone runs up to a person, and punches them, but that person is shooting at them with a gun), order of events is decided by speed. (if the person doing the punching has a speed of 3, and the person doing the shooting only has a 2, the punch lands before the shot is fired). However, if 2 people are both meleeing, they happen simultaniously (so even if your attack knocks them out, they still might deal damage to you).

so last night I played some Marvel Universe RPG (the newest Marvel system). It's...interesting. And horribly written. Bad examples, incomplete explanations, and the like are the norm. It seems like they tried to dumb things down a bit too much, and instead of making things less complicated, they made it more so. That said, we think we figured out the combat system, so next time we play (which unfortunately won't be for a couple of weeks), we should be able to simply play.

Took me 3 years to get a Wii...will probably take me at least that long to adopt whatever this new one is. Assuming I ever do (the last console I got before the Wii...was an SNES, that I got a few months after it came out)

TIL that the people that wrote the "accuplacer" math placement test are frakking retards. on the basic algebra portion, there were no logs, no precentiles, etc etc etc...but there WAS secant, cos(sin), etc problems. Note that I prepped for that test using the OFFICIAL practice tests. Secants, tangents, cosine, sine, etc weren't on the practice test. Logs and the like were. Bastards.

Let's list of stuff I'm reading atm: various papers on Slaughterhouse 5 (for English) various papers on the evolution of User Interfaces (for Computer Science) a couple of history books about the Mexican-American War (for History) the Wheel of Time series (audiobook...not paper, but it's books!) and Republic Commando: True Colors
...only the last 2 are for personal enjoyment. The rest are all for classes.

Never played any d10, though I'd like to. Played Cortex (the system used in the Serentiy RPG) which d12(ish), a couple d20 systems, and a d6 game though. overall, I like d20 the best. Oh, and Sunday I'm gonna play Marvel RPG for the first time. I understand the newest incarnation (which is what we'll be playing) doesn't use dice at all.

I'm going to be playing in a 3.5 game at some point in the near future, and I'm going to be playing a custom class my DM and I thought up called a Soulbound Mage. Basically, I'm a completely normal wizard, but once I reach a certain threshold or suffer some kind of intense emotional shock, I basically berserk and can cast pretty much any conjuration or evocation spells with metamagic feats applied in exchange for temporary con damage. Like "Five minute rest" temporary. This character is going to be fucking epic.
Hehehe...I would counter that with a custom character class I thought up, called a Magic Hunter. Basicly, they're a sort of ranger/paladin hybrid that focuses on anti-spell casters. They get auras that do things like reflect or absorb spells, eventually even auras that completely neutralize magic. And they get bonuses to attack and damage vs spellcasters.
