I think you may have mixed up two different terms "Domestic Partnership" and "Civil Union" Which have to do with gay and lesbian couples in the US. States are varied in how they deal with homosexuality, and so for most of them, marriage of two gay men or women is not permitted. So, to ease the unfairness, they have made above terms for them to bind them together like a marriage. The extent of rights and such vary state to state, but I am fairly certain that a domestic partnership is where they live together and have most of the same rights as a married couple, and civil union is a step below with less rights.
This type of prompt usually leads to a lot of arguing. Must we go through this?
