I didn't want to necro the weapons thread. I figure another one will pop up sooner or later. But, I'm in the local zombie shoot again this year (woo hoo) and due to budget limitiations and restoring the rifles I had instead of getting anything new I'm going with essentially the same loadout I went tiwth last year. PTR-91, .308 caliber semi-auto rifle with 20 round magazines, variable power scope 4 - 14 power, and a micro red dot sight, bipod: I've made shots on 6" targets out to 500 yards, and hit a paintball at 200 yards with this. Mossberg 500 pump action 12 gauge shotgun, 5 shots in the tube and one in the chamber with a reflex sight on top S&W M&P 40, 4.5" barrel .40 cal, 15 round magazines Ruger LCP .380 caliber, 6 shot pocket pistol (not for the shoot, just my carry gun) Comments welcome, the shoot is in Sept and I'llbe heading to th range at least 4 or 5 more times. comments welcome

While I have spoken out about owning crazy guns, I will admit that those are pretty cool. And if my friends already own them, well... Maybe shooting with them could be fun.
That being said, those are some cool guns.
Also, all of that being said, a Necro is okay if you're contributing to the thread. Normally we give people crap when they post something like "Yeah, that's pretty crazy" or "That's a good idea" on a thread that's been dead for 3 months.

We can get some cool stuff in Canada, only thing is the ammo capacity. I did find a guy who does do PAL and RPAL safety classes year round, at least I think. Anyways, my guns for the zombie apocalypse would be... CZ 858 Tactical, 7.62x39mm, exact same gun used by the Czech army, only difference is its semi auto and doesn't have a chrome lined barrel, heard its just as good as an AK. It comes with a bayonet, 4 mags, and a mag pouch too. How difficult is it to clean a gun after using corrosive ammo by the way? I hear some people say "Wipe down the barrel and bolt face with windex", and some people have you take it apart and dip and wipe it in all kinds of chemicals. Anyways, it probably wouldn't be THAT hard to remove the rivet from a CZ 858 magazine so it can hold more rounds.

Very cool guns Five. I've never had a chance to try out a reflexive sight for a shotgun, seems like it'd be extremely helpful for shoots though.

www.contagion2011.us awwww yeah! How difficult is it to clean a gun after using corrosive ammo by the way? I just clean like I do using non corrosive. After every trip out I strip, solvent, wipe, oil, reasseble. But most of my friends think I'm over board, but nice clean rust free firearms are worth it. Very cool guns Five. When I bought it, it had the rail for turkey huntng and it is actually in the way of the bead sight, so I mounted the cheap reflexive. It is very helpful in the tactical shoots because you don't need to get in behind the sights and/or close one eye.

My weapons for the zombpocalypse? Machete, hatchet, probably a knife or two for backup. My bows would most likely stay at home- they're too awkward to run around with (and can't be used effectively inside) and the arrows are just bulky. As for the pistol crossbow, 'tis a POS which wouldn't help much, and I've only the one undamaged bolt for it anyway.

Oh okay, thanks. I was thinking of getting a Mosin, but was deterred by the thought of having to go through some sort of painful process of cleaning it. I've heard a bajillion different methods, if I get a Mosin I'll probably also get a Classic Lee Loader, so I can reload the surplus brass, without the corrosive primers. I know I COULD use regular non surplus ammo, but surplus is cheaper. XD I think a .22 is also a good way to go. Cheap, light ammo. Just get a Ruger 10/22 and you're good to go. I wanted to get an SR-22 as my first gun and build it up into something like this... Best of all, high capacity magazines for rimfire rifles are totally legal here.

I would get one of those, but I already have tools to do pretty much all of its functions and they cost money. 'Tis cool though.
