I started reading the Joe Ledger series of novels from Jonathan Maberry.

They are modern zombie novels.  Ok so far if you like, actiony sort of comicbook style novels.  Kind of like a Big Mac of books. 

"Terrorists get their hands on a zombie virus and it's up to the black ops team to stop them"

There is a free prequel short story titled "Countdown"
