A lot of love went into that cafeteria drawing. Dammit--I have an instant crush on Mandy, and she might as well be wearing a red shirt.
As with horror movies, if a character isn't A) seen alive in the future, or B) in sight and moving, I assume they're doomed. That is one chatty little girl for such dangerous work, too. Also, third panel, "soemeone."

Du du du du du du du, crap that got boring after a couple of milliseconds.

I KNOW ITS THE MODS JOB, BUT IT ANNOYS ME. YES. ME OF ALL PEOPLE.
I've read this as "the mobs job" and imagined the forum being moderated by 1930 Italian mafia men in fancy suits smoking fat cigars. (meanwhile, the body of Milo lies in the trunk of a car soon to be set on fire, that's what you get for poking your nose in mafia business) And I'm sad that Charlie wasn't allowed to socialise. He needs it!

If everyone else is as dysfunctional as our merry band of main characters can any good really come of Charlie socializing?

-haunts ma'am-
Also, so like ... someone stated that Mandy was a red shirt. I feel the same way. Poor red shirt.

I feel like I should point out that it IS a zombie story... typically for the genre, the entire CAST is wearing a red shirt, or the entire cast minus one, depending if Jenny decides to play it true to either of the traditional tropes.
We know Milo's not coming back at some point. But we don't know how many of the other crews will bite it on this mission. The fatality rate for noobs is implied to be quite high, but we don't know about the rest of 'em yet. Do they lose half the crews? Or lose only a few?
Makes me wonder what level of losses would be sustainable. They need the salvage, all right, but with a population of around 5K, they probably can't afford to lose, say, ten people a week to the wastes... because that winds up winowing out a tenth of their population in a year.

A species need about 10 000 individuals to manage to survive properly. So... Sure, in small corners all around the world in the TZH universe there is probably collectively well more than that. Though that doesn't help if there is no way of interaction. But, as the comic implies, population numbers are growing.
