Hi Folks!
Brain worm for the day:
What is keeping these dead bodies moving?
1) Residual electrical impulses?
2) A new form of gut-based symbiotic bacteria that both a) digests stuff, and b) provides intelligence?
3) Aliens (wiggles fingers) using psionics (telepathy/telekinesis/clairvoyance)
4) Something weirder?
5) Magic.  A wish spell gone mad.  Superscience & Sorcery.
6) It's actual biblical Armageddon, and all bets are off.  Demons walk.  Who knows.

Maybe God took a mega-hit from the Holy-Hooka of Antioch and Earth got caught in the Our Father of All Exhales. We could be just hallucinating these damned things.

Cthullu (pbhn) would say something here, but He took a hit last week and He's holding it just to show off.

Ok, I'll give you that aliens with an agenda would probably be far more likely scenario, especially in the United States nowadays, but you'll have to admit, cosmic irony being what it is, there is still an outside chance that we ARE just hallucinating these things and somewhere out there is a cataclysmically stoned deific being laughing his omnipotent ass off.

I'm think that there's an Intelligent Design aspect to the zombies.  Not the omnipotent design associated with religion, but some group or being that is actually running a strategy to achieve an objective here.  Or there was at some point.  It's not clear that the original designers still have control, or even ever had control.   It's also unclear what their objectives were, or what their original strategy was.  It does seem likely that this was not the original intent; however, the original evolution of the basic zombie into subtypes does suggest an initial level of control and an intent to make the zombies more effective.

A timeline of the evolution would probably give us an insight into where/when evolution occured and possibly allow us to pinpoint the original source.
