We're living in a world of bullshit protests. Everyone hates SOPA and PIPA and ACTA, but nobody is willing to do anything. It's like 98% of the people who really oppose things these days are too busy complaining about it and thinking that their inflated self worth will make it mean a single thing to actually DO anything.
The world is in a powerful downward spiral, and we're all too busy shoving food into our faces and playing with our smart phones to do a single fucking thing. We're all going to die and the world is going to keep spinning until the sun explodes and destroys it.
Woah. Pessimism mode, Activate!
Preach it brother!

Incoming rant! D:
We're living in a world of bullshit protests. Everyone hates SOPA and PIPA and ACTA, but nobody is willing to do anything. It's like 98% of the people who really oppose things these days are too busy complaining about it and thinking that their inflated self worth will make it mean a single thing to actually DO anything.

So, for the most part, I agree with that; so much so that exactly 4 weeks ago while having a discussion with my brother, he inspired me to actually see what I can do about starting a new political party in Texas; turns out it's a lot more difficult than I thought. Don't get me wrong, I didn't exactly expect it to be easy, it'd be really stupid to make it so easy that everyone was in their own individual party, but there was more to it than I had expected. Oh, also, if you look in the middle of the page, all paperwork must be turned in for that year by no later than January 2, I viewed this January 3rd...not that It'd have mattered even if I'd of known weeks ago as I still couldn't have done any of it. Doing something new takes a whole lot of time, and a whole lot of money, and the biggest kick in the crotch is that there aren't any guarantees that you'll even remotely succeed. It really is immensely depressing, because you don't want to just be spinning your wheels for nothing; it's understandable to me why no one wants to be the one to stand up and try and lead something new. Even the people willing to lead still have to have the time, money, and know-how. About the best we can do here in the US is try to participate in local election more actively as they do have an impact on the election above them; even that option seems shitty though as everyone seems to disagree with any candidate on some issue. I don't think we have a bad form of government, but it does a lot of the time seem inefficient in representing the majority that it's meant to. *shrug* But what do I know? I can't read or write. *cough*

I'd like to add that people who only protest aren't doing nothing, as long as there IS an organised political movement to support. It's psychology: when someone wants to fight something bigger than themself, the first thing they'll do is look behing their shoulders to see if their allies are following. If competent leaders come before the base ran in various directions for a while, I'll strongly suspect the movement to be astroturf'd.

Small Rant
My university is doing a "protest" about rising tuition prices. Know what they're doing? Getting a drum circle and treating it as a giant party and not as a real protest or anything. It kind of annoys me, but I'm just not going to go. I hate it so much considering I'll finish University and be lucky if I'm only 40,000 in debt, but it will be more like 60,000 if not more. Also, with it going on, you don't have to go to classes, even if you aren't going to the protest, so people will just use it to skip class. I want them to lower tuition fees, but they went about trying to get people involved the wrong way.
I had a thought last week, which I kind of solved. I wondered that since English is my first language, I think in English, so would people who's first language is not English think in that language? Turns out they do. I thought that was pretty cool.

I hope the police speaks crazy old man better than me. A confused looking old man stopped me on the street and told me someone had fallen near the drugstore (while pointing a direction 90 degrees from the drugstore) I tried to get more precise directions from him but he just rephrased the same information a couple of times before losing patience and going back in his house. I took one of the streets he might have been referring to but saw nothing unusual. In the end I decided to call the police and say what the old man said and where he lived, and they'll try figuring it out from there. Maybe nothing actually happened, the man may have dreamed it up, or saw it happen years ago and forgot it wasn't now, he looked confused enough for that, but if it did happen, well being senile doesn't make him blind. And if some old lady did slip and break her hip and is lying in the snow out of view from the street and freezes to death because the only witness happened to be crazy and nobody believed him, well that would suck a lot. Seriously, freezing to death after being immobilised by a non fatal injury is one of the crappiest ways to die.
