I've been kind of spending the last few days ignoring the fire. It's happening, yeah, but it's a natural disaster, and I've never lived anywhere those really happen. So it can't be happening to me, right?
I've been getting a lot of texts asking if I'm okay. My friend's house that he just moved out of a few years back just burned down. This fire is only twelve or so miles out, and they're saying that it's moving in the other direction, but it's getting easier to see and smell the smoke, and I saw ashes falling from the sky today. I'm not sure what to do.
Fuck it, I might be Log, but I don't fucking burn. Fuck that pussy fire.

I went through a similar thing a few years back, the fire ended up only being on the other side of the hill I lived on. A few people died and there was heaps and heaps of damage. At the time I was scared, but also in this state of "This can't actually be happening, no natural disasters ever happen here, they happen in other places". I was that way even as we filled our drains up with water, as we got rid of all the leaves and twigs in the backyard, as we sent our animals off to houses that were further away from the fire, or even as I packed my bag of things that I didn't want to loose. It wasn't till after the fact, when I drove the 5 minutes it took to get to the other side of the hill and saw all the destruction that I realised how close I came to loosing my house and all my belongings.

The floods in my state from last week could have put out that fire. Or at the very least, contained it to one area. XP
Stupid natural disasters making people lose their homes (and lives, for that matter)...
