What? But... surely, having premarital sex during wartime* is a good thing? It means that your soldiers knock up the women before they go off and fight (and likely die), so your population is at a lesser risk of decline, and in a few years you've got a labour pool to help out with the war effort, and a few years after that you've got plenty of bastard soldiers. *Old fashioned wartime, anyway. Not so much with the more modern ones, with their low casualty rates. |

Quite a few people do. Just not in the Western world for some reason. I would say it's because dogs have been domesticated for so long- they're useful workers and loyal to boot. However, the same could be said for horses, and they're eaten all across Europe (or were until recently). he only reason horseflesh isn't acceptable in British culture is that horseflesh was made illegal at the time of the Crimean war, because the army needed the horses that would otherwise be sold as meat.

Baby seals OMNOMNOM. Which reminds me I didn't go to that restaurant that served all kinds of weird meats yet. It's close to home but you don't go to a semi-fancy restaurant alone, there's probably a rule for that!
Markets did caught onto the trend and about everywhere you can see a section with ostrich, horse, deer, bison, duck, goose, pheasant, etc.

My girlfriend's veggie and I'm not and no, we don't argue. I say eat anything that's treated and killed humanely (my thing about eating dogs is the same as against battery farmed produce: inhumane conditions). Though she did quiver a bit when I told her that squirrel does indeed taste a bit like venison only sweeter.
She: So if you were trapped on an island would you have eaten the family dog?
Me:... No. He was a bruiser of a German Shepherd and if things were that bad he had sharper teeth and claws. He'd have eaten me.
