It is full of cheesy drama. Hence the reason I won't go to dances.
That is another reason you gave there:
It causes people to not want to go dancing!
Man, but that night was fun, when I became prom king.
danced with one of the judges. It was a girl from my class. Probably the most mentally mature person in the entire class at the time. But... no one wanted to dance with her. And I didn't notice that before my flame at the time told me while I was dancing with her.
So I asked her out for a dance. She wasn't so very good at dancing but holy shit she looked happy!
Sure, I did well in other parts of the evening too. And during the "final" dance, I totally faked enthusiasm during the waltz. Mostly because the girl I danced with seemed to really want to become the prom Queen.
I remember asking my friend Daniel, who was wearing a cool green coat at the time: "What will you do if I become the prom King?" I had absolutely no confidence about "winning" at the time.
He just turned on a big grin and said "If you win, I'll carve your spleen out."Grin of death!
You know, what was the odds of me winning?
That wouldn't have been so scary if he wasn't hiding a knife under his coat the entire time!
No worries, he is a friend and wouldn't lie about that. He did try to stab me
Thats what friends are for.
During the announcement I was basically picking out people I thought would win in my mind.
Announcer: "Å ball kongen det e no hanj... MORTEN!" (trans: And the prom king is... Morten!)
The girl from the final dance was the prom queen after all. She was nearly crying.
Man, I helped people feel happy! All with the power of DANCING!
So yeah, fuck prom dates. Others should get to experience the wonderfulness of the Prom without having to be popular or good looking.
Though I am somewhat uncertain about what sort of dancing you Americans usually have during proms.
I admit that I felt like I was the main character of some high-school drama film or something during that night.
