I had it for a bit, but I wasn't really feeling it at the time, and I've always been interested in picking it back up.

Winter is the time to get back into it! And the last few games I can recommend that I played are Picross and Dragon Quest Rocket Slime. The former is addictive and unbelievably good. The second one is short, charming, overwhelmingly cute and features mech battles. I think we all agree that you should get Hotel Dusk. XD @HK: B-but a game can't just tear us apart like that! Remember that time we jacked Old Man Palpatines Star Destroyer? He was so pissed! Don't you remember the good old times, man?! Now you just want to get rid of me over a DS game! T_T
Yeah... Those were some good times... Piloting under the influence and being drunk with the never quenching thirst of slaughtering others... I missed those times... Over a- This is... This is THE DS game! This is the game that revolutionized Japanese Pop Culture! It mixed J-Pop with Hip-Hop and groovy styles and pins! Pins with skulls on them! But... I'm- I'm sorry... I was taken over by an emotion other than anger, rage, hatred or a completely natural genocidal, psychotic, homicidal-based emotion against your meatbag kind. It truly is a great game... One of the absolute best... But can you forgive me for letting one of the best DS games of all time nearly break our friendship?

Log, have your tried the new Pokemon Ranger? It's a hellava lot more fun than the original game despite that you aren't as free with what pokemon you catch in the game. :/ But, you get to choose your partner, and I think that's cool.
I'm also a whore for the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games. As of right now, I'm playing the newest one, Explorers of the Sky.
I am not ashamed.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is a Roguelike, so what's so bad about that?
Then you should pick up Mystery Dungeon: Shiren The Wanderer or Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja.

I've got this thing where I have to beat the first before I can move onto the second. Also, That's the one question I had about the second, too. @HK: My godsdamned Izuna save got corrupted or something so I'm very angry at it.

Damn... That truly bites... More so when it's a game like that. How did it get corrupted?

They don't make games like they used to...
Would hate for something like that to happen to me. Did you ever get a new copy?

I kinda know what you're talking about, seems boring getting back into a roguelike? With all the grinding and simplistic combat?
Something tells me I'm not to recommend Shiren to you.

No, more like "I did all that shit, and having to do it over is significantly less fun."
I'm tempted to try out Shiren, but that death penalty is pretty drastic.

Ah, I can see that. Having to do everything all over again and suffer through excessive grinding.
Ain't that the truth, and it will happen often. And God forbid you enter a monster house in that game. But death is all the more tragic/painful when your healing items can't save you because you got turned into a riceball.

I want a good roguelike that's not brutally difficult.

Doublepost because I can't edit my damn anything, I'm thinking about picking up Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes.

Hmm... I only played Izuna and Shiren, and cannot vouch for the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Series, and Etrian Odyssey I and II are more like dungeon crawler/cartography than roguelike... The Dark Spire is brutally difficult and more on the lines of Etrian Odyssey.
So I have no suggestions at the time.
Haven't played it, but it looks pretty good. Wish it was a remake of Heroes of Might and Magic III though.
