That sounds pretty crappy. Though, what do you mean by an 'advanced' team? You could ask if you could just stick a few extra skills, stats etc onto your current guy.

We get to spend 500 points, rather than the regular 400, and we get to use any books, rather than just the core book. We're making a group that's been working together for a while, and are pretty good. The game will probably take place a few years after the current one, so I asked the GM if I could just boost my current character up, but he said no. We're all supposed to have a specific job, kind of like a heist movie team, except he doesn't want us to overspecialize, so we aren't really that specialized. So... Yeah. The guy is a good GM, he knows the lore of the game, he knows how things work, he roleplays things out really well, but when it comes to actual runs, he can't make anything for shit. We come up with all kinds of planning and work, and it translates into "Fuckall, you guys just walk in and kill shit and then you're done." |

Is he maybe failing to verbalize that he wants specialized characters, but not min-maxed characters or Mary-Sues'? There is a distinction, and he may just be really bad at articulating what he means. That means shooting and running and sneaking and anything else that may come your way. Also I'm not saying this is always true, but better to have lots of skills at low level than a few skills at high level. Be warned."
We're not really a group that min maxes, especially since we actually know how things work a bit better now. But really, there's no sense in going out of our way to get together and build our skills together if we're all going to have to be good at everything. I may as well just make a street sam, as his campaigns normally require little to no planning anyway.

PP: One of my best friends has to undergo surgery. Again. She had a tumor in her leg, and got it removed last year. She got an x-ray awhile ago, and the doctors said there was a slight chance of the tumor coming back. Well, she went for a checkup today, and they said its coming back, so she has to go in for surgery in a few weeks. Unfortunately that means she also can't visit her boyfriend either (He lives far away).

PP: Not being able to get BB guns to use as film props in Australia. I wanna go out and start filming skits similar to what freddiew does, and they make fucking awesome props, but for some stupid reason BB/Airsoft guns are classified in the same category as shotguns and rimfire rifles...
