Pilgrim at Tinker Creek by Annie Dilliard.
From the back of the book:
Pilgrim at Tinker Creek is the story of a dramatic year in Virginia's Blue Ridge valley. Annie Dillard sets out to see what she can see. What she sees are astonishing incidents of "mystery, death, beauty, and violence"
She just described in twenty different ways how a moth's legs are HAIRY.
I GET IT. AUUUUGH.

PP: Canadian Gun Laws. THEY DON'T MAKE A BIT OF SENSE! I can only buy crappy, clear, plastic, spring loaded airsoft guns, but I can also buy full metal, Metal BB, Lead Pellet Shooting, CO2 Powered Air Pistols that look almost exactly .357 Magnums, and Walthers, and Glocks, that Don't even have Orange Muzzles, guns that can kill somebody if you try hard enough... But I can't buy guns that look exactly like real guns, but are only copies, replicas. HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? If I can buy a CO2 Gun that shoots Metal BBs and Pellets, that looks almost exactly like a real gun, why not with Airsoft guns that shoot plastic BBs? Or just replicas that don't fire?

PP: You know that button a lot of laptops have? The one that deactivates the wireless function? The one that you might turn off without even noticing?
Yes, that one! [Insert a paragraph of swearing here.]

PP: The fact that the DVD R/W drive on my father's computer is no longer able to burn disks. Ran the Microshaft diagnostics on it and it confirms that the thing can not burn disks. It can still read 'em ergo the burning mechanism is buggered. And guess who'll have to plumb in the replacement? The family tech bloke i.e. me.
