That happened to me! Went to an 18th as a Zombie, blood over my mouth, staind, and I ended up scrubbing off a thin layer of skin to remove the stain! Never again!

I once used paint as fake blood too (it was a "the karate kid who lost" costume) but diluted acrylic paint caused no problems. It would have stained if it touched cloth though.
Ah, and you want to know what tastes really bad? Epoxy hardener. I squeezed the tube too much while unscrewing the cap with my teeth today. Yucky.
