TIL that I'm having trouble getting a mission in my DnD campaign to come out the way I want :-S. I'm trying to design a large scale battle, for a lvl 2 group.

Minions make this very do-able.

hmmm...will have to look into more deeply. ATM it's basicly massive numbers of lvl 1 warriors, with a few casters and archers thrown in. The bad-guys actually come in waves (which I do to give the group time to heal up, since they don't have a healer). The way it's looking now, they're also likely to lvl up 1/2 way through. Which is fine. I always wanted my group to lvl fast early on (it's set during the middle of a war. It makes sense to me that they'd gain XP quickly early on)

Basically, you do your commander or what have you, who is an actual character, then you make a bunch of very weak enemies, that can still attack, but can't take more than one or two hits.

Ah...that's more-or-less what I'm doing. Though in this case, I want a minimum of 100 minions...as I said...large scale...they're supposed to be defending the main gate area of the fort they're stationed at from a smallish attack (lots of foot soldiers, but few siege weapons). Later on their's a decent chance they'll have to defend the same fort from an even larger attack. One involving combat vehicles and siege weapons...and will probably take several sessions to get through. If they end up with that mission, I'm gonna have them fight mobs, instead of individual soldiers

Before the Server Crash of Doom I posted this free writer's plotting tool and someone suggested it'd be useful for GMs as well. So here's the link as is for Labyrinth: http://www.computeractive.co.uk/vnunet/downloads/2128891/labyrinthDon't know if it'll help in *this* situation but maybe in the future? *ADDENDUM* I assume this is some form of table top DnD and not computers or something. Is old, a bit drunk, and assumed you were plotting pencil and paper. If wrong, well, it might be useful in writing or something. Fluke Labs: Prod To Foist Free Stuff On The Unsuspecting.

you wouldn't happen to live out near Death Valley would you? Where I live, in the summer time, the hot water is cooler for the first minute or so then the cold. Roughly 150F cooler. I've been burned by the 'cold' water at my house more then once.

...lucky TIL that one of my friends is really creeped out by the fact that I blast music like Candle in the Wind by Elton John, or Father and Son by Cat Stevens, yet turn the volume way down when listening to heavy metal. TIL that I'm probably on the verge of a complete mental and emotional breakdown.
