To set an example of what kind of screw up it is:
You have a long and beautiful walking stick.
That stick is the manga.
Then they make a replica. That replica is the anime. They cut it so it is barely over 1/4th the original length and then put a piece of ugly plastic at the sawed off end.
Most people never see the original stick and s perhaps a little bit confused by the short one but they don't hate the producers for making it.
Then some people, like me, look up the original stick and now wish that the short stick had nads so that we could kick 'em.
The ending isn't actually horrible. The horrible part is that they go "derp! we're gonna make the last episodes filler and then end it stupidly and deny you the rest of the show".
That is truly evil!
Anyways, I'm going to watch Cowboy Bebop eventually. I wonder why I haven't done so already.
Btw, did you read Kimi Ni Todoke yet? If so then what do you think about it?

Damn it... I suppose I really do have to quit after episode 24...
Guess this means an anime I'll have to put on the stall list until I forget what a terrible ending it has.
Still in the process of reading it, but it's some real good stuff. Had me on the verge of tears on some parts, and is definitely one of the better shoujo manga I've read (Not that I read plenty of that stuff. There is no proof of that. None whatsoever. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero.). It has heart and a convincing realism that I really enjoy and that certain special something that makes the reader smile.
So far, definitely one I'll keep reading. Taking it nice and slow, so I wouldn't have to wait for new chapters once I'm caught up. And it doesn't really seem to me like a manga someone should read really quickly, as it would be best to let the events and characters sink in.

Ah: I think episode 24 of Gantz is part of the filler.
Okay, the first mission the protagonist gets right after pretty much everyone is dead... filler. All of a sudden He is the objective to kill.
That is filler.
In the manga he gets a different mission which ends up with him killing some aliens and then one alien survives and comes back to kill his entire class and... yeah, stuff happens.
Eventually(after like a hundred chapters or something) that guy who got stabbed in the heart(Mr nice guy) is revived. I didn't keep up much with the manga though... was way too disappoint with the anime.
