Tell me how 4.0 is. From what I've heard it isn't as good as 3.0 and 3.5 but thats just stuff online.

I won't have anything to compare it to, but will do. It'll be my first DnD and my friend's first time GMing.

I used to play 3.5 and pathfinder, now I roll 4th ed.
It's fun as a board game. Roleplaying wise, it's just as other games. Problem lies with character builds. It's just so damn simple, pulling the fun out of "building characters".
Pick power A or B: A) Deal damage, add more damage. B) Add more damage to your damage.
Gah.... So far, if you're not using the ranger/rogue unlimited attacks loop, Warlords are supposed to be the King class.
(PHB3 is out, has Monks. Awaiting playtests.)

Not sure what edition of DnD I play, I've just asked my DM. I haven't played for several months now, perhaps almost a year, because it's so fucking hard to get a session going with my group because we're all too busy with work and school. We're all level 7 only, because we played at intervals of three or so months, but when we did play it was usually over a three-to-six-night sleepover where we mostly just played it.
First time I played I almost died; I was the first to be hit and was bloodied down from 35 health to 5 or something. I was pretty pissed because I didn't want my character to die, coz I kinda made this massive backstory for him and he's supposed to be an epic assassin-type (ex-assassin) and then he got killed by a measly goblin? Good thing he didn't die, though.
I'd really like to make a day per week where we play DnD, because I didn't make clay buildings for nothing.

Still trying to convince one of my friends with the Star Wars RPG books to let me play as an Ewok Jedi.
I told him that it would be my Dwarf character.
His answer was that he would kill my character five minutes after everything starts.
It makes me a sad panda. : C OR AN EWOK MIRITE ?

Fixed. So I just DM'd my first session last night, it was great. Funny part though, my two friends (the pc's) arrive at this big wooden door after killing some kobolds and have a key. They make all these plans to like rip off the door and use it as a shield, so, instead of them wasting all the time, I mention to them to try the door handle first. It was unlocked. It was like 5 minutes before they realized it XD

I'm DMing a low-magic campaign for my friends, and also playing in a magic-heavy campaign DMed by another person in our group. In that campaign, I play a lvl 12 barbarian dwarf, and we have a wizard/cleric (forget the name of the prestige class he's got), so our group's official motto is "when the going get's tough, buff the Dwarf". over 150 hit points? check. Over 30 AC? check. 25 str? CHECK! (that's pre-buffs of any kind, and for nearly any fight I rage, and the caster puts bull-str and/or enlarge person on me. Leaves my str more in the neighborhood of 35).
Epic moment as the dwarf: I 1 hit a young adult red dragon. Was using my "Dragonslayer" greataxe (Fierce Dragonbane greataxe), while raging, and the group's caster had put bull strength on me. Ok, that's a decent advantage, but not huge. Then...I crit. Thanks to the 'feirce dragonbane' thing, that ment I was rolling 1d12+2d6+2d10+mods. Much to the DM's dispair, I was rolling well that day, and she was rolling badly. Managed to take out over 1/2 the things health with my attack, and it failed its fort save. Just for good measure our fighter coup de graced the thing.

...Which reminds me...need to upgrade my dragonslayer axe to a Large Dwarven Waraxe (yay being a dwarf has some major advantages...Large Dwarven Waraxes deal 2d8 damage, which means if you're a 2-hander using dwarf, that's the highest damage out put possible).

Not if you're on mounted combat.
A heavy lance on mount has like x8 critical damage.
