So i finally tried 4e. Gotta say, it was a blast. None of us had ever played it before, but inspite of that, it was a lot faster paced, and smoother then 3.5, and we've all been playing that for over a year. Also, barbarians are a lot more interesting to play in 4e

You'd better damn well believe I'm right at all times of the day.
Tell them, Stan. Tell them how often I am right. I know you're going to read this post.
Edit: I don't think he is going to read this post.

My brother and his friends are inviting me to play 3.5 with them.
Just don't know what to roll.

Roll a street samurai. When they complain about that being the wrong game, shoot them and loot the corpses.

Well I'm either gonna roll a Warforged or Dragonkin, as for the campaign (which they just barely, just barely even started) its a mercantile campaign.
They have a rogue, fighter, necromancer and cleric and just trying to find out what I should do.

I really want to see a group of players roll characters independent of each other, and not trying to fill every role possible.
One day I will DM a game of 5 rogues...hilarity will ensue...then we'll have cake.

That would be amazing. 5 Rogues, and they all get up in the middle of the night to kill a different rogue, but they all end up in opposite tents and they all miss their chances. Then they steal everything, so they basically just switched tents with everybody.

I really want to see a group of players roll characters independent of each other, and not trying to fill every role possible. Pretty much what happens every time I play a game. Some rather... interesting groups came from that. Like the time only one guy made a human character, and he was an outspoken racist against all other races. We left him to be eaten alive by ghouls. Fun times.

I've got a game with 5 rogues stuck in my head now. Kind of wish my schedule hadn't changed at work so I could steal this idea and possibly play/run one.

Dungeons & Dragons is bloody awful. Edition after edition fixes peripheral problems while introducing other issues and failing to address basic problems with themes & mechanics (e.g. hit points, armor makes you harder to hit rather than harder to damage, multiracial characters wander around together, characters possess comic-book level powers, etc). D&D sours people on the entire hobby because of its soulessness and cheese, and while people may like to say that Gygax invented the genre with D&D, he didn't - just check Wikipedia and you'll see that actually Dave Arneson did, with Braunstein.
This unsolicited diatribe brought to you by the makers of:

Cool story, Bro.
Honestly, the problems you put forward there don't really make sense... at all.

Both yes and no.
Armor makes you harder to hit for sure. It blocks the attack and protects your soft, smooth skin...
