@Sok: That would do nothing but kill hundreds of Children. Hogwarts is a school. There are wizards all over the world.
wizard children! no next generation. wouldnt that cripple their population? and grieving parents would be easier to find. aaand ive never read harry potter. tried, but found it boring.

Well, think about it like this.
Would nuking a boarding school way out in the middle of nowhere, quite a ways from any real towns, cripple the human population?

Consider that most wizards haven't the slightest idea what a "bullet" or "gun" is, so they would be quite vulnerable until they learn. The hard way. Wizards are generally characterized as being seekers of knowledge, it's what makes them so feared and their magic more powerful, so I think it'd be more odd if the majority of wizards didn't keep tabs on what non-magic users were coming up with. Then again, I've never read any of the Harry Potter books. *shrug* aaand ive never read harry potter. tried, but found it boring.
I never tried, but I can usually tell if the plot will be interesting enough to keep my attention for the entire book. I think a more interesting read would be about Harry's grandparents fighting in World War 2 or something; basically a war book and the decisions of magic-users make on using their powers or not in desperate times. Actually it wouldn't surprise me if there was soemthing already like this...just not sure if it'd be interesting enough as an entire book. >.>

No, it's magic. The anti magic areas in the books are created through a series of spells.
Actually, this argument makes no sense, because nobody would believe anyone who said anything about Wizards, because they would never have any proof in any way.
And, now that I think about it, I'm pretty positive there would be a spell to ward against all kinds of projectiles, and in the magical world, it's pretty easy to enchant things. So, a pair of underwear that stops bullets mid-air wouldn't be surprising in the least.
Pfffft I see Harry get poison by snake fangs, flying balls, and getting slapped in the face... I don't see how a bullet can't hurt him.

Wizards don't use guns. It says in the third book that the majority of the Wizarding World doesn't even know the existence of guns. The third book has this example when Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban and the Daily Prophet basically says: "He is armed with a gun (a sort of muggle wand)"
Besides, why have a gun in this world when you can use magic?

Yeah, but with the way information travels, it wouldn't take long at all for wizards to be alerted to the use of guns against them and how to prevent it.

This is why there should be one, decisive strike before the wizards figure guns out.

That's like saying "There should be one, decisive strike to kill all scientologists."

ok, so usually, when a group people is stronger than another, it starts to control and abuse the weaker group. this means that normal humans should be capable of controling the wizard group. which means that well, outlawing them and doing basically holocaust to them is possible. but i dont think that i want it.

That's like saying "There should be one, decisive strike to kill all scientologists."
For the record, that wasn't supposed to be an anti-scientologist plan, more along the lines of "You can't have one concentrated strike against a group of people with no real physical difference from other people and are spread across the world." Maybe I should've clarified a bit better. ok, so usually, when a group people is stronger than another, it starts to control and abuse the weaker group. this means that normal humans should be capable of controling the wizard group. which means that well, outlawing them and doing basically holocaust to them is possible.
...But humans are by far the weaker group. If Wizards suddenly decided to break out of their secret world and fuck every regular human, they would. Humans would be running in the streets from intelligent monsters that have sided with the wizards, tamed dragons, falling down from instant kill spells, yadda yadda yadda.
