Free riceball trick? That sounds interesting. I must know!

Also, if any of you mentlegen do have wi-fi and Shiren, feel free to post your friend codes, and I will rescue you if you die, as long as you'll return the favor if ever I need it.

Once per journey, visit the Bartender. He'll give you a Big Riceball for your journey into death.
He's one of the best characters for his generosity.

Yeah I found that out.

And Pokemon is pretty Roguey in ways. Though they do differ as Pokemon allows you to gain partners to follow you into dungeons and the difficulty is low since its main aim is to kids. So death isn't a huge impact compared to the rest of Roguelikes.

Not many items I believe, but after you beat the game you can continue on, leveling yourself and eventually evolving.

That sounds like a weak man's game.

Rice Boss... Nearly crapped my pants back there (Floor 6).
Hell, used a Scroll of Sleep so I could escape the fiend.

I got as far as the marshes on my recent run. If I only saved that little girl, I could have saved those scrolls...
It also helped that I got a Cudgel +3 and an Iron Shield later on. What didn't was getting cursed and having my items rust. And sometimes I simply went for the exit knowing that if I fought, I would die with ease.

And for the riceball thing, try getting a riceball (And storing it) and then doing one of Fay's Puzzles. Afterward, check back at the bar.

And a word of caution; Kigny's (Tribal look) can level up by killing other monsters in the mines. If you don't kill it before it does, book it.

Edit again, screwed up as well, but I blame it a bit on the horrible placement.
Entered the mines into a room with a sleeping Lich and two Death Reapers.

For the record, you can spam Fay's puzzles and fill up your store room, so if you do it right, you can have a ridiculously OP amount of health before you even get started.

That being said, I have no idea how to move things in between store rooms.

Damn... Wish I knew that the first dozen times around...

As in from the first village's storeroom to the next village's?
If so, then you're out of luck.

Ah, I was just wondering if there was a way to get jars to the first store room, then you could REALLY have a lot of health.

Also, how does one actually level up items?

Heheh, I wish Wink I could store a crap load of scrolls in those sweet jars.

The weapons either through the Blacksmith or by an Air Bless Scroll (Both +1) and Shields from an Earth Bless Scroll (+1).
Those are the ways I currently know.

So... Pretty much throw it in a store room a few towns in and just hope you get those scrolls before you get there every time?

Yup, and pray that you're lucky enough to meet a courier if you have one of those scrolls and currently nowhere near town.
And I would definitely try and leave a weapon I'll use later on in a town with a blacksmith. Just so I can abuse his expertise.

Old Cedar Road (1) and I already have a Katana and a Drain Buster.
I'm so fusing this shit together later on.
Add another Katana and a Bronzeward+2, and I am made of luck.
Three Katana's in total... Getting a bit eerie.

Last edit: OH SHI-
Items when brought to town are identified, keep on forgetting that. One was a Drain Buster+3 and the other a Katana+2. There is a Cudgel+1, but that's crap.

Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja (DS), Doom the Roguelike and Angband (I know TLO swears by it).
Can't vouch for the sequel to Izuna, as I haven't played it yet.
