This comic took 6 hours to upload. Photobucket has a new sign in script that was incompatible with Explorer 7. I used Mozilla for the last weeks, but Mozilla isn't good at detecting when a script goes on an endless loop and many flash ads happen to have those bugs. Using Mozilla means the update takes 20 minutes IF it doesn't have one of
those ads. Currently, Disney bought lots and lots of uptime, so it was on most of the times, very heavy for the computer while the same animation would have been adequately done with a 30 frames .gif.
Eventually I gave up on using Mozilla and downloaded Explorer 8 (my system doesn't support 9) and the latest Windows upgrades while I was at it. The first was difficult because the "download explorer 8" page wasn't viewable on explorer 7. But I clicked around it and got the download and installation. Now the upgrades took time. Enough time for the computer to go in sleep mode, interrupting the upgrade installation and making the computer unbootable. After several attempts, I found that could be fixed by booting in safe mode, then turning it off again, at which time the faulty upgrade was reinstalled and the computer worked again.
Explorer 8 does have one notable improvement: it has a real debugging function and displays the error type instead of redirecting to an uninformative error page. Being able to stay on faulty pages allowed me to figure out that what kept me out was the login script. I tried deleting cookies, as the help page said the sign up function was vulnerable to corrupt cookies, but it changed nothing.
In the end, I retried with Mozilla at random until I didn't fall on the Disney ad and uploaded my files.
Notice how the body language tells a different story than the dialog?
