I'm making a fancy paint cabinet for mom for Christmas. She already has one but it's full, that one is smaller and can be either placed on top of it or hanged to the wall. Well that's what it will be, for the moment all it has is doors. So, the front has a sculpted colour circle (mostly cropped out of the picture since it's unfinished and unpainted - the visible slice will be green, in case anyone didn't guess) and I added a burned image in the lower space I admit I didn't make up; the original was actually part of the first known colour circle to be printed. I wanted to show off that picture despite the sculpted part being unfinished, because pyrography looks so classy to begin, and when combined with a classical image it's just epic ^^ Note the lady's chest, and how much larger it looks on the angel's painting: it was like that on the original. That little angel was intended to have a dirty mind from the beginning! Dirty, dirty little angels. More pictures as construction advances.

I wish I was good at pyrography, because it definitely looks classy as hell. I spent most of my time in woodshop, strangely enough, making small baby ducks out of wood and then sanding them until they were as soft as I could possibly get them.

You can probably learn it on your own, the main difference between that and using a pen is that you have to refrain from applying pressure when the line is too light because then it burns a hole into the line. And also you can't chew on the tip of your tool like you could with a pen. It'd go TSSSSSSS. I had a woodshop class one year too; I caused other kids to pass out from blood loss. Twice! Kids... I worked with more ease because I already had experience, not because using a knife instead of a plane is fundamentally a good idea! ... but at 14, that others might imitate you isn't the first thing you think.
Also thanks people XD

I got part of the sculpture done, but if anybody has ideas for the missing quadrants I'll welcome suggestions. Every quadrant represents a colour (it will be painted too, I'll have to be careful not to make it tacky) and most of the tertiaries are still missing. I think the rightmost one (purple-blue) will be snow. What is still missing is: Purple-red Green-blue Yellow-green I'll probably have ideas eventually, but throwing some can't hurt.

I'm familiar with pyrography but I have to say what really grabs my eye is the scuplted piece, how did you achieve that effect with what looks to be plywood?

It's not plywood XD (but the fact that it's sitting on plywood may be misleading) Good old solid wood... I didn't find the English word, but you know when several pieces of wood are assembled to form a wide surface like a table top? That's what it is. It sculpts almost as well as one uniformous block, it's just a bit harder where the glue is.

Well all the sculpted part is finished now! I'm a bit disappointed that I couldn't saw that half-circle piece neatly, that center part was intended to show a superposed sun and moon, but now it just looks like the sun is off-center. (it is, but it was meant to look deliberate) All hope is not lost though; see the pencil dot on the top right of the sun? That's where the screw for a fancy knob goes, that sun was designed to match its shape, so with a little luck it'll balance it. It'll also look different painted. No matter how nice plain wood looks, a colour circle needs colour.
