Granted. After the war, New Mombasa is recolonized and the Humans and the Elites/Covenant live at peace. Then an extremely advanced version of The Combine (as if they weren't already advanced enough) just randomly pops in and enslaves them both into eventual extinction, and Gordon Freeman isn't here to save us because he doesn't alive.
I wish there was someway to overthrow The Combine in that scenario.
