I remember a game (2D, I think, but I'm not certain) where your character wakes up on a beach (shipwrecked, I guess), and if you look around the sand near you, you find a pearl. I'm fairly certain that you need that pearl to exchange for something else, which you exchange for something else later on in the game, etc... Do you remember what kind of a game it was? This sounds really familiar to me...

Edit2: I found the game I was thinking of in the third paragraph (though, it was "eat garlic". Whatev). "Hugo 2 - Whodunit?" Now if I can only find that first game...
DosGames.com, just scroll down and you'll find it. Edit: Ah, nevermind, misread it; thought it was referring to the first Hugo game. It may be of no help but I'll leave the link there because it's old-school.

It might be one of those mystery-solving adventure games, like "The Secret of Monkey Island". If you haven't played that game, I suppose you could also say it's like the Legend of Zelda games, but without the attacking of monsters/humans/animals. Thanks for that link, I'll be sure to look through it and see if there's any "long-lost" game I want to play. :3 Edit: HOLYYYYYY CRAP! "Animal Quest"! Omg, I used to play that toooooo! XD Again, thanks for that link! XD

Hmmm...It wasn't Mata Nui was it? The online Bionicle adventure game. Or maybe the first Myst game?

No, it didn't have Bionicles. And I've played Myst. But thanks for trying. -Old computer from around before at least 1995 -3rd person view -2D (I'm pretty sure it was) -Humans- no robots/aliens that I can remember -Your character wakes up on a beach -Pearl is in the sand next to the character -Use the pearl to trade for something, which is used to trade for something, wash, rinse, repeat (at least, that's the gist I've gotten from my memory). -Civilization is near that beach -graphic adventure game, I think, just like "The Secret of Monkey Island". -May even be one of those games that you have to type what you want your character to do (just like "Peasant's Quest" from HomestarRunner.com) -your character doesn't get HP, wield a sword (okay, Guybrush Threepwood does get a sword, but you don't control when he swings his sword), has the ability to cast spells, etc... Maybe I've dreamt this game. If so, I'll be sad because I thought it was real. lol

Glad it was of some help Used the site for plenty of games that I played back in the day. And for Source #2 which may or may not be of help; Adventure Gamers. If it's an adventure game, it's there. Otherwise, I have no clue as of yet.

@Synaster: 7th Guest? Never got the CD-ROM to work after it was gifted to me by Dr_Evil. But if you can get the CDR then do as it has the soundtrack on it and "The Game" (opening track) is pigging brilliant. Will get a machine and an emulator to play it eventually. And if anyone wants a giggle they can get the Infocom text only adventure game "Leather Goddesses of Phobos" from abandonia.com. Oh that game is naughty...

Okay, I got one I've been trying to find, but can't. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out. It was on the original xbox, sci-fi game, when it came out they had a contest where you could win a ton of money (In the millions) if you did something in game (I think you had to find something, not sure), but the contest was cancelled. It was 3rd person I believe, and you had some crazy powers too, pretty sure the game received generally good reviews too. I've always wanted to play it, but never got around to it.

Advent Rising?
I'm pretty sure that's it. I want a good game about customized robots on consoles, preferably newer. Anyone have anything?

Sounds somewhat like one of those Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Games.

No, it's an old game from before you were born. I also posted more in-depth info of what I remember earlier on this page. Thanks for trying, though.

So, I find myself wondering where I can find an older open world RPG for the PC, anyone know of a good one?
