NP posted this on Facebook.

Hmm... you could always just google riddles and set up a puzzle based on one of those?

So, Last night I came back into the game that I was playing the Pally as a bard who carries a mandolin wrapped in cloth on his back that he only uses for special occasions.

And by "bard who carries a mandolin wrapped in cloth on his back that he only uses for special occasions", I mean Assassin of the raven queen who carries a massive executioner's axe wrapped in cloth and tells everyone he's a bard.

Shortly after meeting the party, this conversation happened.

"So, you're a bard, eh?"
"Yep."
"What do you play?"
"I sing. And dance. And whistle."

And then I promptly did the whistle emote from Fable 2, where you dance and whistle.

This character is a thousand times more fun than the pally.

We tried to play last night, but it was kind of a mess. Oh well.

I'm putting together a little homebrew system at the mo. Planning to test it out with a post-apocalyptic game IRL and maybe something on here too. It kind of feels like a cross between Fallout and old-style Shadowrun with a touch of Traveller mixed in.

I had a cool idea for my upcoming game:

The characters are going to end up in a small village as per the quest, but there will be a competing group of mercenaries there as well. They are giant assholes to the villagers and the group but since the villagers are desperate they put up with it. They investigate and think they have the answer, but that night, the creatures are going to sneak into the village and cause chaos. The mercenaries are going to fight the creatures, but I thought it would be cool to have the group switch for a bit and play as the creatures sneaking into the village and trying to accomplish the objective, then have the group resume their characters the next day. It wouldn't be nice for the group to kill the innocent villagers who have been so kind and helpful , but it would be rewarding to kill the asshat mercenaries though.

If I do this, I will print out the character sheet for them and give each one to them so we don't have to keep flicking back and forth with books.

Thoughts? Ideas?

I was going to make a comment about how cliche asshole opposite teams are, but then you mentioned the whole playing as creatures thing, which is pretty sweet.

They're going to be Gnolls, but as per the whole story I'm cooking up, they're going to be better then your average Gnoll with some better then average weapons.

So, I'm thinking about making a campaign inspired by Diablo 1 or Torchlight, which features just one town, and a massive dungeon under it. Like, dungeon built upon a dungeon with a large portion of it collapsed into another dungeon which has a portal to another dungeon under it that is built into the wall of a massive underground lake and so on and so forth.

I did a Diablo D&D game once, it was going great until one of the party members thought they could solo it...

Another posting about a game that I'd potentially like to run...
BRP or possibly Alternity, set on a Post-apocalyptic earth that was ended by a kind of religious cataclysm. There will be plenty of monsters and demons all over the place, but my players will be embodiments of gods, extremely weakened due to a lack of believers. They've all got powers, just not "god" powers. I dunno too much more, just kind of putting the idea out.

Bump to keep the thread from dying, because I like this thread.

Starting a new game of D&D (same world, same time, different group of adventurers) because a few of the key players from the first group just kind of stopped showing up and we decided we could make a better group anyway. 2 Defenders (Civilized Bugbear Fighter, Halfling warden), Two strikers (Maybe a controller?), and 1 leader (Warforged Artificer). Here's hoping things work a bit better.

My character is going to be super young Warforged that is just massively obsessed with making things. Like, I've already talked to the DM, and the backstory will be that he was a gift from Moradin, or maybe Garl Glittergold, or someone like that to a Dwarven artificer, and when his master died, he was awakened and decided to go exploring. I've got a lot of fluff stuff planned also, and I'd definitely love some input if anyone has any.

It would be fun, but it would also be really difficult.

We're also probably short on people who care enough to want to play.
