I went on a movie binge last weekend. I know I rented and watched four movies, now what the hell were they?
Let's see, Drive (quite good, slow paced but very well shot and when there is action it's good action not overdone CGI crap. And when you're done watching it you want to rewatch it again. It's that good. Also I want his jacket.)
Thor, surprisingly good. It was a shock to see Asian and African Norse gods but once you get past that I rather liked it. Loki was satisfyingly evil. Huge CGI budget. Like I think our economy could have been bailed out if they had left out a few scenes with BiFrost.
And um... shit what were the other two? This is going to bug the crap out of me all day.
Oh yea, the Nightmare on Elm Street reboot. Weaksauce. I like Jackie Earl Haley. But choosing to remove Freddy's sense of humor killed the film. I can see trimming cheesy one liners but Englunds signature barking laugh was sorely missed.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXROPcU6SDAWell other things also ruined the movie. 1. The "Improved" Freddy face looked like a cheap Alien Grey mask half the time. 2. The kills were by and large unimaginative as were the dream sequences. 3. There was no value added to the franchise. It was all stuff we’ve seen before but not as well done.
And umm… crap…
There was another one. I may have been drunk at the time. What the hell was it? Oh well if I can’t remember it only a few days later it must not have been worth watching.
So in conclusion I can only say.
Boycott Michael Bay, spread the word.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbhL1uGQARwEDIT: I remember the fourth movie. It was “Kill the Irishman” I actually liked it; it’s a decent “true crime” mob style movie. The problem was I watched it while enjoying Irish whisky. I blame the fact that bottles of Bushmills were featured in so many shots of the film it HAD to be part of a product placement deal.
