[Q]Who are you?
[A] My name is Jenny Romanchuk. I was born June 27 1985, and reside in a small boarder town called Sault (Soo) ste. (saint) Marie, in Ontario Canada-- where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average. ;)

[Q] I thought you were a guy!
[A] Surprise! Boobies!

[Q] Okay, What’s going on? I’m lost. You just kind of tossed me into this story—
[A] I tell stories a little differently. I have always disliked the long-winded gigantic walls of text, and other usual explanatory methods laying everything out for you so you don’t have to think. So when I decided to do TZH I didn’t want to put anything of that sort in; even in the cast biographies I put very very little about the characters. If you are lost it was meant to be, questions will be answered as the plot develops (I promise). Also, as the plot develops, I will be adding information that applies to the Character Biographies and the Glossary as well so stay tuned!

[Q]When do you update?
[A]Every Monday rain or shine. I haven't missed a Monday update in a long long time. I will also do random Thursday updates if I have the time, I always let you know in the news on a Monday update if this will happen. I want it to become a regular thing for Thursday, but I am still in school, so that can be difficult to update twice a week on a regular basis.

[Q] So these characters are based off of real people? Including yourself?
[A] Yup! Though as the story progessed the characters in the comic spawned a life of thier own, the only things that the characters in the comic share with their real life counterparts is their first and last names, and that they 'sorta' look like us. The TZH characters kind of grew into their own people, as characters should.

Here we all are in no particular order:
Katie Jenny Sammie Maureen Dan

[Q] Huh, I am a bit wary about ‘self insert’ comics… excessive egomania…plot armor…
[A] Little story about this. At first this comic was a private story for my friends and I, it was loosely based off of a dream I had that was highly amusing, so one day I decided to make a comic about it, just something for fun. Months later I posted a few pages online and other people came to like it. People were asking me to do more, and more, and more, so I decided to actually make a short web comic about our ‘adventures.’ This comic was only supposed to run for no more than a handful of pages, but as people came to like it, I became to like it more as well, so I decided to sit down and actually write a full-length script for it. This is where I THEN made the decision to keep all of our characters the same and unchanged. Why? Because who wouldn’t want to run around and kill zombies? This isn’t about ego fluffing, this is fun, and I am unashamed to proudly show off that I would rather be running around bashing in zombie heads than boring old daily life.
Don’t worry about plot armor. I have been told by a few of my editors that I am the most evil writer in existence. So with that said, don’t worry.

[Q] Uuuugh why is the beginning sooo long winded and convoluted? It’s taking them forever!
[A] Another story! During the script writing I had ran into a rather big snare with the plot. So instead of not posting anything and going on hiatus until the problem was fixed I decided to just draw things out until I fixed the plot problem. I realize that more than half of the things in the beginning 3 chapters are unnecessary, but at the time I needed, well, more time, and something is better than nothing! Don’t you hate it when web comics don’t update?

[Q] What does convoluted mean?
[A] Complicated; intricately involved: “a convoluted way of doing a simple task.”

[Q] Hey Jenny, this is wrong, this is wrong, and this is wrong, Romero and *insert list of professional people here who have the training, the schooling, the money, the time, and the staff to do said thing that I did wrong better* Would laugh at you and tell you-- you suck!
[A] Comparing me to a professional is like punching a baby in the face. I don’t have a degree in sequential art. I have a grade 12 high school English under my belt. I don’t have a staff or ANYONE helping me do this, aside from building the website and editing. I do ALL the writing, ALL the paneling, ALL the inking, the storyboarding the COLORING, by myself. I WILL make mistakes because I am learning, there is no way in hell I can ever be perfect.

[Q] Oh look, I did a review for you, LINK ME!
[A] No. Sorry I am making it a point to no longer link reviews good or bad. I am DEBATING on linking interviews; it will depend on the content discussed. I am thankful for reviews and I appreciate them very much, and it gives me insight on where I should be improving. But dispite that I am VERY wary of them when the author asks me to link thier site. If the author decides to email me I’ll read it, thank them, and move on—if the author of a review article asks me to link them I get somewhat apprehensive—like they just wrote it to give themselves more hits and publicity so their interest isn't with the comic and giving a review. Or, if its a negative review I see it as wanting to be argumentitve and start a huge shit-storm with angry fans, which I rather not be acosiated with. So yeah! I don't link reviews!

[Q] Do you make a lot of money off your site?
[A] HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. This comic is like…a fulltime UNPAYING job. We bring in a little bit of money from merchandise, ads, and donations. The site really doesn’t bring in the big bucks; we have spent more on it than we have made from it. So yeah, I seriously do this for fun.
Although donating and bidding on our Project Wonderful Ads are a BIG help. And if you can, donate! We appreciate it very much!

[Q] I have no money to donate! But I still want to help!
[A] Thats fine, there are many ways you can help TZH without spending a dime.

- Voting (this helps increse our popularity)
- Checking out our Ads (costs you nothing, and helps our sponsors)
- Word of mouth. (Tell people about us, link to us, the more the merrier!) Our link banners can be found here.

[Q] Are you going to make this into a book?
[A] I sure am! Not too sure on all the details yet. But I am planning to start making it ready for print sometime after I am done school, which will be next year (June 2008).

[Q] How long does it take you to make a comic strip?
[A] A good solid 7-8 hours from start to finish. Could be more depending on if I run into snares with the script and panel layout, which I often do...and depending what is going on in my life—school, work, life hazards, it can take days.

[Q] Update more!
[A] See above.

[Q] So who is on the production team for TZH?
[A] I (Jenny) does the comic story & art, site design work, adsvertizing, promotional material--basically anything that involves design, art, or writing. Gregory Adams does all the code work for TZH, and Samantha Lovi (Sammie) is my main editor/brainstormer.

[Q] You haven’t responded to my email!
[A] One of 4 things could have happened.
1. My hungry email monster ate it, so it never got to me.
2. Haven’t gotten around to responding because I was busy.
3. The title sounded spam-like so I just deleted it outright.
4. I just didn’t know what to say! Or sometimes, in rare cases, if I get an email that’s rather rude and asshole-ish is won’t even bother replying, my time is too precious to be wasted by arguing and defending myself from people who are idiots.
Also, don’t email me asking to be friends. Cause dude, that’s just weird.

[Q] Jenny I just heard that you were held hostage for 4 weeks, killed your captors with a ballpoint pen, led police on a high speed chase while you were out for revenge, got side tracked during the alien invasion cause you were brought aboard the mother ship and you decided to open up a can of whoop-ass because you were PMS’ing, and after all that you died by getting shot a bazillion times in the face by the mob!! How can you POSSIBLY still update!?
[A] Buffer.

[Q] What’s with the hat? o__O
[A] At first the hat was of a kitty, but then it slowly turned into a bear, I dunno why, I don't like bears, I used it once for a comic, and over time people seemed to get attached to it, and it stuck. It kinda looks like the hat from Serial Experiments Lain, but the colors are different...and the shape, so I guess its different, and better cause its mine =D And if you notice the bear hat always matches my mood--like its alive...

[Q] Do you actually HAVE a hat like that?
[A] Yup! Since it doesn't exist in stores my best friend Sammie made it for me n__n

[Q] Do you know about "The Zombie Survival Guide" or "World War Z" by Max Brooks?
[A] HOLY CRAP STOP EMAILING ME ASKING IF I HAVE READ IT OR HEARD ABOUT IT! Yes I know what it is and who its by. I have seen his guide—skimmed it… briefly—read 5 pages… No, I didn’t base any of my ideas off of him. His zombie world is completely different from my own.

[Q] Your story is awesome! Would you be offended if it inspired me to make a zombie comic of my own?
[A] Depends. Inspiration is one thing, ripping off is another. Please don't infringe on my copyrights (I will hunt you down). I ask that if you are inspired by this comic to make your own, tell me.

[Q] You copied me! I had a comic about my friends hunting zombies!
[A] Well, how many webcomics are there about two gamer buddies? Or better yet, college life? I started this idea in late 2004 to boot… so Yeah. I don't care, and I didn't steal your idea.

[Q] I was wondering if it would be ok for me to use your zombies in a table top role playing game.
[A] I tell people that as long as it's for PRIVATE and PERSONAL use its fine, like using them in a tabletop RPG with your friends is totally cool, if its an online RPG game I ask that, if you can, play it on the TZH forum, but if not, I want you to give credit and a link back to www.thezombiehunters.com. If the content on this site starts finding itself elsewhere however, there may be some problems in the legal areas, which I don't want to have to go into. Also, for the future I DO plan on making a tabletop RPG for TZH, which I think will be rather exciting =D and hopefully others will feel the same way, bwaha!

[Q] OMG ZOMBIES! Did you get the idea from *insert popular videogame/movie/book here*?
[A] No. A lot of people say it reminds them of such and such movie, or such and such a thing, but as the story progresses It won't, believe me. I hate basing stuff off of other popular stuff in the media, it's not how I roll.

[Q] Hey there is this movie Zombie Hunter. Did you get your shovel idea from that?
[A] I nearly had a heart attack when I saw this, but I saw the copyright date and when it was aired, it was 3 YEARS after me. So in all respect you should be asking them that question hahah. But honestly, the shovel and zombie hunting have been around since the dawn of time so it was only a matter of time before they met, the idea of using a shovel to smack around zombies is highly unoriginal to me, but I do not where I got the idea from to use it in the comic. So yeah *shrugs* The idea of the shovel is mainly displaying the fact that if you have no weapons at the time you are going to have to improvise.

[Q] What is your favorite zombie movie?
[A] All of them! anything from the post apocalyptic genre I usually like.

[Q] Is Charlie based off of a real person?
[A] No.

[Q] What's with that Charlie guy anyway? Is he a zombie?
[A] Read and find out!

[Q] Omg! Can I be in your comic!?
[A] I don’t know, this could be just me, but I find this to be one of the rudest things to ask someone who is writing a comic. But in short, no, mostly because I don’t do comics on the fly, everything is actually all scripted, so it would be incredibly difficult to just toss another character in. The most I could do would probably be to squeeze someone in as a zombie or as a ‘filler’ character in the background. *nods*

[Q] How long does it take to make the website, how do you do it?
[A] This would be a good question to ask Greg for all the in-depth work. But what we usually do is I design the site on paper, napkins, or sidewalk chalk, and put it in Photoshop and then Greg works his magic and hits that ‘make web page go button’. The process could be a few minutes, could be a few weeks, depending on what I want him to do. If he’ll have to learn something new it might take a little longer, but he does it! Coding is all Greek to me.

[Q] How long of a comic do you have planned?
[A] A very, very, long one.

[Q] What were your sources of inspiration for The Zombie Hunters?
[A] Natural human history. I am a big WW2 buff and I read about real survivalist stories whenever I can. I also get a lot of ideas from music, I’m a music junkie, and dreams cause I do both a lot.

[Q] Cool! Your Zombie Hunting character is fighting with a SPADE!
[A] Uhh that’s a shovel dude.

[Q] What software do you use to make the comics?
[A] Good old pencil and paper, PhotoshopCS2, aaand Painter9, and a Wacom Intuos3 Tablet =D I also use poser 7 for assistance with anatomy and well, poses.
